1991 Honda Accord LX Cruise control doesn't work

My 1991 Honda accord LX was equipped with cruise control from the factory. I have a 5-speed manual transmission if that helps paint the picture. All of the lights on the dash board appear to work properly but when I let my food off of the accelerator I can tell that it isn't working at all. Where should I start to fix the problem.
Thank you.

As far as I know the speedometer works correctly, but I'm only basing that on the fact that it displays the speed without any malfunctions. Where is the speed sensor connection located? Is it in the engine compartment somewhere or is it behind the instrument panel inside the car? Thanks

I cant remember if the cruise control transducer is operated by engine vacuum or by an electrical solenoid. At any rate follow the throttle cable from the firewall till you find the transducer. Make sure everything is plugged in.

Does your speedometer work properly? if not, check your speed sensor. Many times the connection to your speed sensor may be left disconnected especially after clutch replacement.

The speed sensor is located on your transmission. It is a relatively quick fix, though not a cheap fix (speed sensor's are expensive). If your speedometer is working ok, the it has to be in your cruise control switch. Check your fuses (under the hood) to see if any are blown. It this is not the case you may have a hidden electrical problem that may require the assistance of a hands-on mechanic.

Srs light on, horn and cruise won't work

Well it would be helpfull to see what codes are stored in the airbag computer, but its interesting that the horn and cruise arn't working. Maybe before spending the money on having the codes scanned, i would check all the fuses, just incase.

Valves are blown or timing belt skipped a gear. Get a compression tester.

Cruise control not working

The main cause for this problem is failure to maintain a set speed. Check the cruise control fuse. If the cruise control system fails to maintain the set speed, check the throttle linkage adjustment. Use your manual for this. Honda Accords parts would help you to buy other Honda Accord parts in good price.

The cheapest place to start is to replace all of the vacuum lines. If they are old, dried out, and cracked, that might be your problem.

The cruise control on my 1993 Honda Accord LX, automatic 4 cylinder works sometimes and sometimes not. It worked three days ago. It wouldn't work the next day. The following day it would. Now it won't...

Sounds like possibly a safety switch associated with the brake or shifter is engaging intermittently. There is definitely one behind the brake because when you apply the brake the cruise kicks out. Try looking for this switch and check it out.

Hi....
The fuel Pump relay (main relay)
On your Honda Accord is located:
Left side of the dash, near left side of the steering column.
On direction under the Instrument cluster.
You will need to remove the Cruise control Module if your car is equipaded with cruise control.
The cruise control module is atached fro 2 screw 10mm.
One on the steering column the other one at the Instrument bracket.
After you remove the cruise computer, you will see the relay.
Is a little bigger that a regular relay colour gray.
And the number on the relay is : RZ0088.

I hope this help on your question.
Thank you for use fixya....

Cruse controll

Pull up on the brake pedal. If that does not work check your brake light bulbs (LED brake lights will also keep your cruise control form working). Finally check all of the fuses. This system needs at least 3 different fuses to work properly.
