My 1991 Honda accord LX was equipped with cruise control from the factory. I have a 5-speed manual transmission if that helps paint the picture. All of the lights on the dash board appear to work properly but when I let my food off of the accelerator I can tell that it isn't working at all. Where should I start to fix the problem.
Re: 1991 Honda Accord LX Cruise control doesn't work
I cant remember if the cruise control transducer is operated by engine vacuum or by an electrical solenoid. At any rate follow the throttle cable from the firewall till you find the transducer. Make sure everything is plugged in.

problems with cruise control include , clutch switch, brake switch , low road speed , control module , speedo sender unit
make sure that all those items are adjusted as one one will stop the cruise control from engaging
Well it would be helpfull to see what codes are stored in the airbag computer, but its interesting that the horn and cruise arn't working. Maybe before spending the money on having the codes scanned, i would check all the fuses, just incase.
The main cause for this problem is failure to maintain a set speed. Check the cruise control fuse. If the cruise control system fails to maintain the set speed, check the throttle linkage adjustment. Use your manual for this. Honda Accords parts would help you to buy other Honda Accord parts in good price.
Sounds like possibly a safety switch associated with the brake or shifter is engaging intermittently. There is definitely one behind the brake because when you apply the brake the cruise kicks out. Try looking for this switch and check it out.
The fuel Pump relay (main relay)
On your Honda Accord is located:
Left side of the dash, near left side of the steering column.
On direction under the Instrument cluster.
You will need to remove the Cruise control Module if your car is equipaded with cruise control.
The cruise control module is atached fro 2 screw 10mm.
One on the steering column the other one at the Instrument bracket.
After you remove the cruise computer, you will see the relay.
Is a little bigger that a regular relay colour gray.
And the number on the relay is : RZ0088.
I hope this help on your question.
Thank you for use fixya....
Pull up on the brake pedal. If that does not work check your brake light bulbs (LED brake lights will also keep your cruise control form working). Finally check all of the fuses. This system needs at least 3 different fuses to work properly.
