I had a 97 fire-bird that did the same but mine would not start I would have to pull fuses (ignition fuses) about every three days so it would start I was told the chip in the key or sensor in the ignition was wearing out.

1993 camaro no secrty light wont crank

Most all mechanics pull the dome light fuse before working in the interior to avoid draining the battery.. On the 1994-95 Camaro the 20 Amp fuse courtesy light, also illuminates the orange security light in the dash cluster. If the security light is out, and your car won't start, it's because the VATS is in theft mode and you don't see it. Clean the key, if that don't work you may have an open short or broken wire in the orange jacket of the ignition (key) switch. Disconnect the harness connector and connect a matching resistor with the correct ohms of your key inline with the purple and white wires without cutting the connectors off, because you may latter need them. - Original Owner of 1995 Camaro.

Security light stays on in my 2002 camaro

Usually a sign that the passkey system is not working. The ignition lock has a sensor that "reads" the chip in your key to tell if you are the owner of the car.
Often times the chip in the key goes bad, or the sensor in the lock.

Im having problems with my 2001 3.8 v6 camaro. it wont start most of the time and when it does start it immediately stalls. i can hear the fuel pump turn on and the car turns over normal. any ideas on what...

Most GM vehicles from the mid 80's to around the mid 2000's have this problem. The problem is the "antitheft" systems that GM has been using. The number one symptom of this problem is seeing a light on the dash that says SECURITY. Read this link for info on these systems and some DO IT YOURSELF ways to fix it forever.

The security light on the dash blinks at me and wont let me start the car. i have power to the car. radio works a/c works...etc but i cannot start the car.

The security system (VATS/PassKey) is having problems, it's typical on those cars/years. It's been a nightmare for us. You can find a great write-up here: http://newrockies.ca , it was the only thing that saved my 94 Park Avenue that has the same security system.

Security light in dash stays on

It starts with the security light and then gets worse till the car won't start anymore. The security system (VATS/Passkey) installed on these GM cars is anti-owner more than an anti-theft. There are 3 parts involved: 1) The chip-key 2) The lock cylinder 3) The TDM (aka the brain of the system) if any of these parts fails or is even slightly malfunctioning, the car stays stuck where you are and you only get a dealer asking you about 1,000$ to fix it. And all the 3 parts have a quite short lifespan. Way too many people got in this situation (including myself). I don't recommend any partial solution or any used parts as it would happen again way too soon to be acceptable and if it happens 100 miles from home (like it happened to me....) it's a big burden. I finally made it to save my beloved 94 Park Avenue (with the exact same system that is installed in your car) with a solution that I found on the internet and that bypasses the entire factory security system, all 3 pieces altogether and you can even remove the TDM at the end and use 99c keys without chip. The product I used is at http://newrockies.com and is still working perfectly after 5 years. Don't go to the dealer!

My car starts with no problems.but the security light stays on solid. It will not go away.I have tried everything. It is a 1998 Camaro Z28

security light on is the first sign of a faulty TDM or BCM. Same experience. There is a detailed write-up here: http://vatspasskey.com . I have a 94 Park Avenue and this was the only way I was able to save it.

2002 Camaro, Security dash light stays on

a few questions to start have you had you vehicle battery replaced lately, or had an after market security/remote starter installed. the vats system is a very touchy system. i run into it alot at best buy. i am the senior car tech there. the second answer you read is the easiest i would just get the bypass module. what is happening is either the factory security system is "bugging out" or sometimes but rare if the resistor in the key or contact point in the tumbler is getting worn out or not making good contact throwing off the ohm reading a bit throwing the vats off. you are lucky if it was working it should engage a starter kill and cut power to the fuel pump which as i have seen happen before can just happen out of the blue. either get a vats bypass or send your computer out to someone who reprograms cumputers after mods have been done to set up the computer to eliminate the vats while your there you can also have different things changed like speed limiter spark curves tweek it for perfomance the sky is the limit but usually runs about two hundred if you have anyother questions i have been restoring and moding 3rd and 4th gens for about ten years now shot me an email to weeden_john@hotmail.con

The SECURITY LIGHT is ON on the dash??

the resister on the key is not being read by the contacts inside the ignition switch. disassemble the key switch with new springs and contacts or follow the two purple wires down the steering wheel and match the ohms on the key with a made resister and short the two purple wires out. No more security light no more sitting and waiting 5 minutes to try to start your car again.
