1999 Jeep Cherokee Sport Cargo Light Doesn't Work

I have replaced the bulb. Bought a new cargo light it still didn't work. I have tried everything I can think of. As far as the switch portion of the light, it turns off the rest of the overhead interior lights like it should. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

The Cargo Light has an independent switch. So all you have to do is tap the light with the cargo door open & the light should come right on! This feature comes in handy if you need to keep the cargo door open for a long time with the engine off.

You have likely figured this out by now but check the lift gate switch. It provides ground to light.

95 gmc c1500 third brake lite works but cargo won't

The cargo light will only work if the lights in the cab are on. Turn them on then flip the switch for the cargo light and it should come on, if not then it is probably an electrical problem.

Cargo light doesn't work

They are part of the dome light circuit, so if the bulbs are ok you'll have to check the wiring fuse and switch.

My 99 Jeep grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4 has some brake light problems. The brake lights work fine during the day, but when I need to have my headlights on, my left brake light and tail light competley shut...

If you have any extra fuses, try replacing the ones for the head lights and tail lights. Make sure the fuses you replace are the same color as the ones you replace them with, that way the voltages are the same. Another issue is that a flasher could be going out.

And, in a curious way, a user in this forum could not find the accessory use the idea of keeping a folding table in place of "cover".

Good luck.

if water got in there ,there is a good chance that the socket itself is coroded and your not getting a good ground. i would check that out and it's a good bet that you have to replace the socket. please rate this....thanks
