Replace the fuel filter before the pump goes bad, just paid $700 to replace OEM withan aftermarket fuel pump and filter (better than $900 quoted by another shop. Had I changed the filter sooner, may have avoided. Now dealing with a bad intake mfld gsked and old leaking oil cooler lines. Help, GM is killing me!! These vehicles are notorious for various issues.

Good luck

so pulling the gas tank is first? really?
no engine stated, so must guess... on parts. 4.0l or 4.7liter?/?????? the 4.7 has 8 cop spark coils. so????
the 4.7 is a V8. so??
Cops or not make big differences.
ever get a full tune up this decade, white all parts.
if COPs with new boots? spark plugs, and air filter??

the ECU also tells you at stall why it did, most times, the not looking
makes it 10x harder to find, the ASD relay may of dropped out.
(with DTC missed by you)
the PCM works OT, to not allow stalls, so if it did, its real bad.

here is how ASD works
http://www.fixkick.com/Jeeps/ASD.html

now stalls, in the macro views, (physics)
1: lost 12vdc to PCM or spark
2 lost compresion to any or all cylinders.
3: lost or weak spark or ASD drops off , then engine dies.
4: bad fueling, (too much or too little for many reasons.

so the fast right foot fails to keep it going
that means ASD DROPPED OR fuel is cut or it flooded
so if it dont start and its seems flooded, snif sniff, then use super secret unflood mode, cranking wot, wide open throttle cuts all fueling clearing said flood,
if it wont start, pull in mr. obd2 scan tool
crank for 5 seconds, and release key (not off)
scan tool tells you most the time why.

dont be blind learn to use a scan tool and they are cheap.
less that 2hours shop labor. so.... its and investment. grade. thing.
with future pay back and even profit, (do the math)
i have a innova 3160 just for my jeep and 6 more for other cars.
this tool sees ALL jeep codes, factory codes and full live data.

2003 toyota sienna wont start sometimes But does turn over. Its not getting gas. After pumping pedal its starts

its not getting gas, is that a guess? or the results of a real test.
as per FSM book.?
the only test that proves not getting gas, is all spark plugs out and all are white and dry. (NOT GETTING GAS to the combustion chambers)
i think its flooding (sparks wet)
and all cars clear floods, with wide open throttle cranking, (A feature)
this magic feature, cuts all fuel cranking, to clear said flood.
(oper, guide covers this)

if this works,
ever consider a full tuneup? this decade? with filters?
if tuned up, then scan it to see if there are DTC errors cranking?
check for spark , during failures. ?
check for flooding? spark good,!
there are many causes of flooding, (spark good, tuned up)
  • too high fuel pressure
  • injectors leaking
  • fuel regulator bad.
  • no air supply starting, bad IAC STUCK CLOSED,
Try starting with 5% throttle ,creating a good human made, IAC, (fresh air)
each line has tests we do,, if you dont have tools, all this is just
water under the bridge.

do you want guessing (unsaid)
here:
  1. never tuned up.
  2. too high fuel pressure and flooding.
  3. and many more. i just rolled dice 2 times.

2006 liberty cranks but wont start

gas engine, not diesel.
its probably flooding, ever give it a 60k mile tune up, ever?
we check spark tips for flooding and dry, never do we guess at fuel pumps, ever. (pressure gauge is $20)
tips dry or soaking wet.
we check for spark , no gas engine car runs with no spark
so we check all cylinders for good spark
if spark is good and flooding (new spark plugs) we use
cranking wide open throttle wot. like the operators guide says.
start now? this cuts all injection, this magic PCM trick.

see scotty ,
1: compresson at spec, 2: spark good and timed. and 3: fueling last.

skip the silly ad.
note he says 2, but he ASSUMES compression is good. (oops)
but his tests are fast, and if it fails to start, see #1 above. ask

My 1998 tj jeep is hard to start, i replaced fuel pump because the filter had come off the end of it. and replaced the crank position sensor because i got a code po320 It ran fine for a while and then...

try to give it a little more gas it sputters an back fires! In the first place your not giving it more gas unless it running ! If just cranking all your doing is letting more air in . Your vehicle has electronic fuel injection , not a carbuerator . Till the computer see's a RPM over 300 rpm , it's going by programming installed in the PCM - engine computer . It sputters an back fires because of a lean condition , low fuel . When starting a fuel injection engine you don't touch the throttle pedal . And if you were to push it to the floor and hold it , the computer goes into clear flood mode. If the vehicle were flooded that is what you would want to do .
P0320 OBD II Trouble Code
You may have O2 sensor problem or a map sensor or coolant temp . sensor . Your best take it an have a qualifiedd repair shop diagnose it .

97 mercury grand marquis wont start after warming up

You need to determine if it is fuel related or spark related. I have seen everything from a pick up screen in the tank to a crankshaft position sensor. Check the fuel pressure when the no start condition occurs, check for spark at the coils. Does all your electrical equipment in the car loose memory?

you need to check see if it is getting fuel sounds like a clogged fuel filter and when you pump the fuel peddle you are puttting it clear flood mood which may also be leaking fuel injectors and flooding the cylinders with fuel but most likely is a clogged fuel filter try spraying starter fluid in throttle body and if starts its clogged fuel filter

Try a starter fluid. Sometimes it takes a while to start if it was flooded with the cleaner. Try leaving the hose assembly off and open the throttle to let it dry out.

First of all, a diagnostic wont tell them that there is arcing involved. I am thinking it is your crank sensor. It expands and retracts in different weather situations. It should make contact in all weather situations.
