Stuck in reverse. Can go out but not as far as nutral. I was reversing when it jumped out of reverse. Now I can't select any other gear. Help!!
Either your trans is bad most likely or you need to check your trans fluid when the car is on
or it could be the linjk thats connect to ur trans under neith the car it couldve got stuck some how

I currently have the same problem, and looking at replacing the transmission wire harness. I'm hoping this will cure my problem. My volkswagon mechanic thinks so anyways.
Check the shift cable that goes between the shifter and the transmission. If it's damaged internally it will not move properly and the condition you stated will be a symptom. Easiest way to check it is to disconnect the transmission end of cable and see if it moves freely. If not, replace it.

It sounds like a bad shift indicator switch on the shifter. Kind of a pain in the *SS to get to those console's get real brittle.

Either the shift knob or the actuator rod under the shift knob has worn out.
Remove the shift knob and pull the actuator rod (plastic) out of the shift lever and inspect it for wear or damage. If the rod is not worn or damaged, replace the shift knob and you will be good to go.
