Integral Fuel Pump & Filter (Replaceable Element Type) Prior to 1966, the fuel pump was equipped with an integral fuel filter, featuring a replaceable element. It is recommended that this filter element be replaced every 36 months or 36,000 miles, or in the event that the filter becomes clogged. It is important to use the proper filter element for your fuel pump and to observe the instructions for positioning the element within the fuel pump unit. These instructions will be printed on the replacement element.

SOURCE: 1984 f-150 inline 6, 1

I need to ask a few questions and please do not think I am insulting you.
How much gas is in tank?
Is the gas good gas and not with water in it? Can you take any gas from the hose into a clear container and wait a minute and see if separation occurs?
Can you see gas squirt into carburetor when you pull on the accelerator cable or push the lever in on the carb? If you can see is going into the intake and .most likely bad gas.
Lastly and another problem area is the fuel jet inside the carb is stuck or has an obstruction such as goo from bad gas?
This gives you some ideas on what to look for and thanks for using FixYa.

How to remove a fuel filter in a carburetor 1984 pontiac parisienne? V8 Gasoline

Acording with 1984 PONTIAC PARISIENNE 5.0L 4BL OHV 8CYL - REPAIR GUIDE, This system incorporates a bleed in the pressure regulator which automatically relieves pressure any time the engine is turned off, but a small amount of fuel may be released when the fuel line is disconnected.

To reduce the chance of personal injury, cover the fuel line with a shop cloth to collect the fuel, and then place the cloth in an approved container.

The Fuel Filter is located under hood, center, upper engine area, mounted in fuel inlet line connected to carburetor.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I'll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using Fixya, and have a nice weekend.

Where is fuel filter located on 1966 corvair?

The fuel filter is located inside the inlet fitting to the carburetor(s) It is very small, about the diameter of a large magic marker and about 3/4" long, you will need the special fuel line fitting wrenches to remove the fuel line and then the barrel adapter that is screwed into the carb inlet/bowl (1"), if you don't use them you can destroy the fittings. Below is a picture.

2004 f150 5.4 on initial takeoff truck does not want to accel idles roug, blows black smoke last nightwould start but then died right away. started this morning but not running good burns ALOT of fuel

Did you take a look at your oil dipstick? Was there any water drops on it? From the limited information you give, it sounds like you could have a blown head gasket.

Check your dipstick and see if you find any signs of coolant on it, If you do, most autoparts stores sell a hydrocarb tester to verify it.

I need instructions on how to replace the fuel filter on a 1982 Chevy Impala (V8 267 engine). Also need to locate the fuel filter.

the fuel filter is located in the carburetor.were the fuel line attaches to the carb this is were the filter is need a 7/8"wrench and a 1" wrench.put the 7/8" on the fitting of the fuel line and the 1" on the fitting on the carb.undo the line and move out of way then using the 1"wrench remove the fitting on the carb and the filter will come out with it.there is a spring that will push the filter out a bit.leave the spring in and install the new filter with the end of the filter that has no hole(solid end) into the carb and the end with the hole(rubber pulse dampner) facing the fuel in reverse order, start car check for fuel leak and your done.

I have a 1987 caprice clasic with a 305 v8 2 barrel that I have to pump the gas pettle to keep it running. could this be the carb or the fuel pump?

this problem is the carburetor which probably has dirt in it plugging up the circuits or a stuck float and when you push on the gas pedal you are supplying fuel through the accelerator can be rebuilt or you can buy a rebuilt carburetor, but note you don`t know how long a rebuilt carb has been sitting on the shelf there by it may have dried out gaskets and accelerator pump, and be in worse shape than you own carb.
