Question about 1989 Buick Skylark
Where is the heater control valve located on a 1989 buick skylark
It probably has an airlock - so needs the air leting out of it.
If you have the bleed screw on the pipe that goes from engine to bulkhead, then, with engine cold, and heater turned to heat, start engine( KEEP CLEAR OF FAN / BELTS ), and undo bleedscrew to let out air. STOP ENGINE. Refill coolant to mark with antifreeze mix.
If this soes not solve problem, it could be more serious - either blocked matrix or if you only find steam regularly - it's a head gasket problem - requiring replacement.

Most heater control valves are on or near the firewall behind the engine. Look for coolant hoses attached to a small metal piece. It also will have an arm that has a cable from inside the vehicle attached to it.

replace the knob, this doesnt have some valve you can just change to make it switch, this is a blend door with electrical actuator that moves the door from hot to cold air and also turns on or off ac depending on if that has a separte switch else where on control, you would have to remove the actuator and move the door and then some how jam the door so it doesnt move, i think its easier to replace the knob or use plier to twist the shaft of the control where the knob did.
