Subaru legacy Gt 96 clicks but wont start just pulled it out and tested working fine any idea where i would put my attention next?

You don't say what it was you tested or how, but I assume it was the battery. If you just put a voltmeter on it, that will not tell you if the battery is dying.

The symptoms you describe are classic, the sound of the starter solenoid pulling in, and arise almost always from

- a dying battery which cannot hold a full charge, but which can still pull in the starter solenoid, run the radio etc, but not crank the motor

- worn starter solenoid main contacts which cannot close the main supply circuit from battery to starter motor

- a dead segment in the starter motor armature which is preventing it from rotating

- a bad ground, usually between engine block and chassis

One way to narrow it down is to try jump starting your motor from a known good battery or another car with running motor, taking precautions to avoid frying your electronics.

20004 legacy wagon surging when aplying acclerator

Sounds like a sensor is going bad. A easyest indication of this is that the check engine light comes on,but not in all cases. take it to the nearest autozone and have them do a code scan,it is free. Really wanna find problem ,best bet would to have pro put it on a scanner. although the code scanner at autozone will atleast let you know if it is a sensor but oin alot of cases it doesent tell you which one. Hope this helps some and good luck

I have a 1998 subaru legacy L do u check the auto tranny fluid with the engine running in park or neutral or with engine off?

Always check it with the engine running, and put the gearbox into Park. and the handbrake ON, Make sure that the gearbox is warmed up to normal operating temperature first. A drive of a couple of kilometres ( or about a mile and a half, depending where you live) should do it.

I have a knocking in my 99 subaru Legacy L it has a 2.2 and all new parts in the timing chain area, what could it be? When purchased put all new parts, sprockets, pulley and tentioners and belt on new. It...

I think I would pull the timing covers back off and see if one of the pulleys etc. is loose. Did you put the proper tension on the timing belt? It is also easy to put that belt on one tooth off, the motor will still run and can produce the knocking noise, take care and good luck. ps I assume the oil level is good in the motor.

Subaru Legacy 98' Outback Legacy won't start when hot

I have the same car - same problem. Too hot or too cold and then just another once and while for good measure :(
I've had the battery checked and is good. Is it likely to be the starter?

Engine will not start - (intermittent fault)

First I would check the coil pack for good mounting and test. Then I would check ignitor. If still nothing check crank sensor. If motor is very dirty I would make sure sensor for crank and cam are clean and wires are in good condition. Hope this helps. Good luck and have a good day.
