SOURCE: 1996Lincoln town car wont crank intermiitently

Check the fusible links located on the starter and/or at the power distribution (fuse) box under the hood and/or at the positive battery cable, lightly pull on the wires to determine if they stretch, if they do, they are bad, if they don't, they probably are still good.

If you replaced the ECM and didn't reprogram it. There's your problem. The ECM doesn't recognize the security code. And it will start and kill the vehicle three times before shutting down everything. IE.. starter, fuel.

Why after I flipped my seadoo and got water in the motor, it wont stay on without pressing the start button, why? how can I fix this? The seadoo is a 1999 xp

I would say that you shorted out the item on the other end of your start switch due to it working backwards. Check the continuity of the wires from switch & check the switch.

Have you ruled out that the starter has gone bad? With use and age, the armature can sieze in the motor, essentially making the motor useless even though there is voltage applied to it..

'96 Dodge Dakota will crank, but won't run.

a bad crank sensor or dist pickup plate can cause this.... check the fuses in the fuse block under the hood for any blown ..... a bad auto shut down relay may cause it .....try putting a test light on the green and orange wire and see if it lights up when you try to crank it
