My 2005 GTI cruise is not working. when i switch the cruise on, the light on the dash does come on but when i try to set the speed nothing happens. It is not the brake switch because my brake lights work and I already had that recalled. I think it might be either the vacuum pump or the steering column its self, but I highly doubt its the steering column because the light comes on on the dash. I have looked everywhere for clues as to where the vacuum pump is located in the car but I can not figure out where it is at and have not found anything on the internet... I dont want to take it in to get fixed if it's just a vacuum line that has come loose... please help?
A cruise control is controlled by several items. a switch on the brake pedal (adjustment) switch on the clutch (if you have 0ne) tailshaft speed sensor against engine rpm and vacumm. IF the road speed is too low for the engine revs it wont' engage. If an efi vehicle the sensor on the tailshaft will not tell the cpu to engauge and without this input it won't
well, I have ruled out the brake switch because it has already been replaced... I have a strong feeling that it is the vacuum line because everything else seems to be working perfectly fine... All that I am looking for is some sort of a diagram or specification as to where the cruise vacuum is located so that I can figure out the problem, if not, then rule it out of possible issues... Thank you!

SOURCE: My Mark 5 VW Golf windscreen washer front and rear
sounds like it is the washer pump that is located on the tank itself it is what pushes the fluid out take a look at it do you see a blue residue around the lower end of it that is a common issue for those pumps to go out
SOURCE: vw golf gti internal fan not working
there is a fan resistor which controls the speed of the fan, which is probably burnt out, should be located near the fan motor, behind glove box.
