Oil in the radiator


oil in the radiator is from a failed transmission oil cooler that is in the radiator tank. You will also have water in the transmission oil as when you shut off the engine the coolant pressure may enter the oil lines through the crack in the cooler.

Light brown junk in radiator


I suspect you have a leaking cylinder head gasket, this would account for the gunk in the system. To confirm this is the problem have a shop that owns an exhaust gas analyzer put the probe in the coolant recovery or surge tank of the system and see if any combustion gases show up in the system with the car running, do the test both hot and cold engine states. You will be looking for hydrocarbons. No matter what the outcome you must have the system professionally flushes and clean uncontaminated coolant installed Ina proportion of 50/50 coolant to water mix.

You never said if the heads were resurfaced or not. That copper stuff is a gasket and radiator sealant. It can plug up several tubes in the radiator. Check for a blown head gasket this way. Take the radiator cap off on a cold engine. Start the engine and watch for coolant to travel by looking in the radiator. When the thermostat opens, the level will do one of two things. 1) it will spit out and overflow out the filler. This would suggest a blocked radiator. 2) the level will drop and you will see the tops of some of the tubes in the radiator. If some of them are plugged, then a rerod of the radiator is needed. if there are bubbles in the coolant, this indicates a warped head or a blown head gasket. Anything you find won't be cheap to repair.

1996 acura 3.2tl replaced hose on back of engine replaced thermostat,replaced radiator,still running hot might run fine for week then run hot brown gunk in radiator.need help.thanks


Brown gunk is either oil from a blown head gasket or 'stop-leak'. The head gasket is expensive to fix.

If you have over 150,000 miles probably cheaper to replace the car if the head gasket is bad.

2003 toyota camry won't start. Had battery tested, and still good. has power but won't even crank.


Could be the starter motor, bad battery connection, starter motor solenoid, faulty ignition switch, siezed up engine.
Turn the head lights on and try to crank the engine, if you hear a click and the lights dim, it is a bad battery or a loose battery lead. If you hear a click and lights don't dim, bad starter. If you don't hear a click, it is the starter solenoid. If nothing at all, bad ignition switch.

Overheating and anti-locking brake and parking brake lights on


thermostat my be stuck closed. check radiator for gunk and junk, check oil if it looks milky then its your head gasket. to reset the check engine light disconnect the neg battery terminal for 30 seconds

Intermittant low coolant light. Have flushed system, replaced low coolant sensor


The coolant sensor located in the radiator is either gunked up or faulty if the fluid level stays ok.. The sensor is located on the engine side of the radiator about 3 inches from the top on the right side looking from behind the steering wheel
