You have some loose ground connections under the dashboard or a loose fitting connector in the wiring harness.

It can be several things. Te simple one is that the connector behind the cluster is loose. The other is the circut board that makes up the cluster is going bad. Try disconnecting the cluster and re connecting. If this does not work, try replacing it with a sed one from a salvage yard or from ebay.

This would be a very difficult problem to solve on a forum like this by not being able to eliminate components. However, after 30+ years of chaising problems like this the first thing that comes to mind is a bad ground somewhere.

The one clue is where you say it all clears up (or mostly clears up) when you hit the brakes. The only thing taking place when you do that is to create an alternate ground path through the brake light filaments.

As a general technicians rule "If it weird, its a ground".

I would start looking at each ground starting under the dash, but the ground problems could be in other places.

It can be difficult to find this kind of issue, and I only suggest this from expierience in the past.

Good luck!

Mike

WHERE IS THE WIPER/WASHER FUSE LOCATED ON 2007 PONTIAC TORRENT

In the under hood fuse box , should have diagram inside the lid . Front wiper's or rear ? Front fuse # 36 - 25 amp. Plus Two relay's PCB hi and Wiper PCB relay . Wouldn't think this being fuse problem . Wiper switch , motor etc... The wiper's are control by a computer . BCM - body control module .

The windshield wiper/washer system consists of front and rear wipers. The front and rear wipers are operative when the vehicle is in accessory or run. The front wipers have 4 different modes: Mist, Intermittent, Low, and High. When the front wipers are in the intermittent mode, there are 5 delay modes to chose from, commanded by the windshield wiper washer switch through the body control module (BCM). The rear wipers has an only one mode.

If the fuse is bad , could have a short to ground or wiper motor pulling to much current (amps) . Fuse's don't just blow for no reason ! Could also have DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes stored in the BCM .

DTC B3715 02: Front Wiper Relay Drive Circuit Short to Ground
The body control module (BCM) controls the wiper motor based on input from the windshield wiper washer switch. The BCM monitors the wiper washer switch through three separate signal circuits and a ground circuit. The windshield wiper switch high signal circuit is used to determine high speed wiper operation, the windshield wiper switch low signal is used to determine low speed, intermittent, and mist operation through the use of a resistor ladder, and windshield washer switch signal circuit is used to determine washer operation.
The BCM controls the windshield wiper motor through two output controls, controlling two different PCB relays which control the desired wiper speed, high or low.
DTC B3922 00: Front Wiper Function Select Circuit

The PCB relay's are non- servicable , replace fuse box . Soldered in Your best bet mit be to take it to a qualified repair shop .

I'm driving in rain, wipers working good, all of a sudden they quit! I drive for 15 min, check again, they work for a while, then quit again...what in the problem?

If your not familiar with automotive electronics an module control of components , I suggest you take it to the dealer . They have the tools to diagnose this type problem !
The Wiper/Washer System consists of the following components:
?€¢
Windshield wiper/washer switch

?€¢
Body control module (BCM)

?€¢
Wiper PCB relay

?€¢
Wiper high PCB relay

?€¢
Windshield wiper motor

?€¢
Windshield washer fluid pump

?€¢
Windshield washer fluid level switch

?€¢
WPR fuse 25 A

?€¢
WSW fuse 10 A

Low Speed Operation
When the wiper switch is in the low speed position, ground is applied through the switch internal resistor and the wiper switch low signal circuit to the body control module (BCM). In response to this signal, the BCM energizes the WIPER PCB relay by applying battery voltage through the wiper relay control circuit to the coil side of the relay. This allows battery positive voltage from the WPR fuse to flow through the switch input side of the WIPER PCB relay and out to the switch input side of the WIPER HIGH PCB relay. Since the wiper high relay is de-energized and its switch contacts are normally closed to the low speed control circuit of the windshield wiper motor, the motor will operate at low speed.
High Speed Operation When the wiper switch is in the high speed position, ground is applied through the windshield wiper switch high signal circuit to the body control module (BCM) indicating the wiper high speed request. In response to this signal, the BCM then energizes the wiper PCB relay, as stated above, and the wiper high PCB relay by applying ground through the control circuit to the coil side of the relay. With the wiper high relay energized and its switch contacts closed to the high speed control circuit of the wiper motor, the motor will operate at high speed.
Wiper motor high speed operation and the wiper high speed PCB relay can also be commanded ON/OFF by using a scan tool. Refer to Control Module References.
DTC B3715 02: Front Wiper Relay Drive Circuit Short to Ground
DTC B3875 00: Wiper High Speed Relay Circuit
DTC B3922 00: Front Wiper Function Select Circuit
You could Have a switch problem , BCM problem ,PCB relay problem , the pcb relays are non serviceable an the whole under hood fuse box would need to be replaced . Malfunctioning motor bad ground some where etc.....

Why are all gauges on dash not working.only fuel guage

Usually when these Gauges go out it is because of a faulty BCM( Body Control Module) The BCM controls all dash instruments . If it is the BCM you will have to get a dealership to flash the new one. Before doing that though check all fuses under hood and inside. It should say gauges or BCM

the actual proble is in the BCM which means body control module, i will first check and make sure that all the grounding cables to this vehicle is tight and clean and if they areok and the problem continues it is time to get a new or rebuilt BCM.

hi to get the lights to stop flashing this is with you have to do he reason they are on is beacuse the battery has been removed at one time ok this is the was to get them to stop flashing. first start the vanthen slide the temputer lever all the way to the right then set the mode control to panel (this is the mode that send air to your face)then put the fan speed to full power now go to the leftmost three buttons press the top one(rear wiper on constant) and the bottom one(rear wiper hold thest for a few seconds once the lights come on solid then begin to flash you can let go. the ac will now calibrate you will feel air blow out of all the vents at different intervals and see lights come on and off then after a minute or two the top button you pressed will be slowly flashing this means it has been completed but let it run for a few minutes more to make sure nothing els flashes then press the last flashing button then your done if you need more help email me rockystevenson@hotmail.com
