It sounds like your front end might have something loose that causes it to move around from the added torque of the 4X4. If its under warranty, take it to the dealer and have it looked at.

SOURCE: the truck will not stay in 4 wheel drive also

You can check for a Vacuum leak to the IWEs on the front wheels.

There is also a vent line that should be checked on them ( tube that points up, and goes to nothing ).

The IWEs are VAC operated, and if you have a cracked vac line, or the vac "bottle" the IWE will pop out.

Could be another problem, but I would start with the easy check, the vac lines from the IWE up to the splitter.

check around
there will be new boots available from the manufacturer , from drive shaft repairers
that will require wheel and hub removal to replace
but there may be after market boots that clip together over the joints and so the shafts do not need removing
just as good

2005 trailblazer, 4 wheel drive trys to engage while driving in 2 wheel drive, making poping noise intermitant

May be the computer model itself. Don't spend big bucks on new one to find out I'm wrong. Go to local junk yard & get one for $30-40 ( if you pull yourself). Pretty easy, just a bolt or two holding in place & a plug or two.
4 Wheel drive model (computer) is different then main computer

4 wheel drive noise

Where does he noise come from?
is it coming from the hubs on either of the front tires? Is it coming from under you in the transfer case or is it coming from the 4 wheel drive shifter? Once this is known, it becomes relatively self explanatory.

2004 ford expedition is popping and grinding in the front end at times with the four wheel drive light flashing

When you reach the point you have, the best thing to do is shut it off and tow it in. You have had 3 sequences to show a problem. The first two, a Code light and leaking should have gotten your attention. The noise is a sign that something is very dry and has enough wear to pop and make noise.

Sounds like you are close to something important falling off your vehicle and may even affect whether it can be steered or move.

The presence of a 4 wheel drive light means that the problem can be larger than a simple wheel bearing or balljoint. Sorry to have to report this to you.

I don't know what you mean3010 mule is this a chevy . If so look at the acuator cable and the actuator it self and the front carrier switch as well as the shifting mechizium switches for the 4 wheel engage system adjustment and vacuum positvve pressure to the transfer case and transmission

I went over a pot hole then I heard a loud pop. Stopped and looked under my jeep and there was grease or something all over the inside of my wheel. What was it? Is this a serious problem? Service 4 wheel...

You might want to get all that checked out soon. The grease might be left over from a lube job. But the POP noise, you may have broke a hub or something. If it doesn't make a noise or doesn't wobble, it is not that serious. Make sure the front end is not making any weird or unusuall noises.
