Question about Pontiac Grand Am

Looking for free imformation on how to stop the seals on the transmission coolinglines becuase where the seals go the walls were scared.

Only thing I know us using plumbers tape on the threads, a couple of wraps on each one should suffice do not overtighten because of fear of stripout(especiallyplastic) good luck

check your rear main seal. Also try changing your trans fluid, trans filter, and your transmission pan seal. I recommend you put lucas transmission oil in it and a quart of the Lucas Stop Slip and leak sealer

How do I stop my transmission leak?

Not sure i follow you on the description - - is it possible the transmission is leaking while the vehicle is moving and not sitting still ?

Minor transmission leak

I would ask for a clarification request, but lets see if I can help you. Dependent on where the transmission is leaking would help greatly, but a few minor things to look at are such things like your transmission dipstick. Yes, the transmission dipstick, when removed, you'll notice a small "vent" hole in it, where it goes into the tube of the transmission dipstick. This is to allow the transmission to "vent", for if it weren't allow to vent internal pressures, then the front seal could start leaking as well as the rear seal of the transmission. If you're experiencing a leak around the transmission's pan's gasket, then a DIY (Do It Yourself), Transmission Service is in order. To know how to perform this task, I recommend a Haynes Manual (located at any Auto Parts Store), for your particular vehicle.

Should the drip or leak be at the front seal, which you will see evidence of the drip around the bell-housing or the part that bolts to the Engine, then the transmission would have to be removed to have the front seal replaced...However, BG® sells automotive products and they do sell a "Transmission Conditioner" that will lubricate dry seals or expand them to stop the leak. The old shade tree way (which I wouldn't recommend), is adding Brake Fluid to the transmission which causes the seals to swell and "perhaps", stop the drip.

Once again, should it need to be taken out to repair the front or rear seal(s), remember to clean the Vent Hole on the transmission dipstick or the problem will occur again.

It looks like the front seal and real seal on the standard transmission (4x4) are leaking. Rear seal looks like possibly a weekend job for a do it yourselfer but the front one may be over my head. Any...

The Gear oil spec is GL-4 75w90 or 80w90. The GL-4 does not have an additive found in the more current GL-5 that corrodes the brass synchros... do NOT use GL-5...

You may want to cut an access panel under the carpet on the drivers' side transmission tunnel next to the drivers' seat to access the upper fill hole on the transmission to keep it topped up with oil. There is no real "stop leak" other than a new seal. Swing over to and look in the garage and by model (wd21 for your 1995) for deatils and how-tos..... we are all nice guys who like to help folks out!

How to change 2002 isuzu transmission oil

If you added that much transmission fluid you really need to have that transmission serviced. To change the transmission fluid you have to remove the pan from the bottom of the transmission. If you are going to do this anyway, make sure you pick up the correct Type of transmission fluid and a transmission Filter and pan seal as all should be replaced at the same time. If the transmission is acting up already though you really need to have it serviced by a mechanic.

No, the seals will not cure themselves, it will continue to leak until it is repaired.
because the transmission was not worked for more than a year, the seals dry up, when you start the engine the dry seals can rip or wear.

Transmission licking fluid form seal plate.

Well, that doesn't sound good. Probably leaking around the spline which has seals on it. Seal is probably bad. You could look for an additive (Pep Boys?) for transmissions which is supposed to swell seals and maybe stop a leak. This has a low probability of working if the leak is a pint in two weeks.

If this doesn't work sounds like you need to take it to a shop.

Transmission Axles 2005 Mazda 3

mcdevito75, I have heard of 2 different type axles being used on Mazdas, the important thing though is the fluid leak. Have your local repair shop take a look and fix this leak.
