SOURCE: I have a 2000 Buick
A coworker of mine said he had the same problem with a GM product the same year. I tried it and it worked, so simple. All you have to do is pull the headlight switch on and then start the car, let it run for a few minutes and now it works normal.

I had the same problem with my 95 Lesabre. The owners manual says to take the key out, and wait 3 minutes(until the light goes off). It should fire right up.

Similar problem with 1997 Buick. Intermittently the car would quit. The problem was corrosion on the battery terminals. A new battery solved the problem.
