If a drive belt breaks, the debris can interfere with other engine components and do additional damage. rule of thumb belt life is 6yrs or 60000 miles. the belts operate critical engine systems ( alt, water pump, power steering pump) not something to short cut on. belts are noisey when cold due to additional load from battery use when starting or cold fuuids. have belts and tensioners checked for wear and correct operation

SOURCE: squeeling noise near fan belt on cold mornings

Normally a squealing noise like that _is_ the fan belt. It will certainly be one of the belts, check all your belts for wear and tension, replace/re-tension as necessary.

2004 Jetta starts to buck while driving as soon as ESP light goes on.

It's your Electronic Stability System. It may be malfunctioning because of the cold temperature or triggered by another malfunctioning system. You need to take it in for a diagnostic investigation.

Bad squeel when i start my car when cold, but goes away as soon as it warms up, what is it

The accessory belt most likely or possibly an accessory belt idler pulley is causing the squealing until the belt warms up enough to stop slipping against one of the pulleys which is causing the noise. Either replace the belt or inspect the tensioner pulley and replace.
You can try to buy "belt dressing" at the auto parts store for a temporary solution. Just spray the belt dressing on the contact surface of the belt it should quiet down for a few days.

When i started my malibu this morning, something was squeeling underneath the hood. When it warmed up, the squeeling subsided. Not my belt. I just changed some of my power steering fluid the other day....

If the rack is tight, you may hear the pump making
a loader sound,as fluid may be somewhat restricted,
as you put more wheel into it, and the rack is slow to respond

I would flush all the fluid and add some LubeGard additive,
that you can get at auto parts store

We have a 1990 lebaron 56000 miles when it gets cold outside,like35 degrees sometimes the headlights will not go on until after the car is fully warmed up. the hi beams will always work but the headlights...

the old chryslers were very suseptable to dampness esp at 35 deg after car warms up the damp wires would dry off and the problem would go away some time this also affected the ignition and car would not start on damp or rainy days as well

Squeels at start for first two seconds

The squeeling could be from a worn belt or if oil drips on belt overnight. Replace the belt first to see if that fixes it.Good luck.

Power steering

All I had the same symptoms above, i.e. changed timing belt went ahead and had new water pump and accessory belts replaced. Noticed slight squeal after picking car-up, this became progressively worse as the colder months set in. But after the car warmed up not much of a big deal. Or I out of the blindness of my heart because I was torturing people in the parking deck with the ear blowing squeal I set my mind to fixing the problem, willing to spend any amount on parts ect.

After readjusting the power steering belt to no avail I noticed something strange about the adjustment bolt on the alternator bracket. I could see that it was not screwed in as far as it once was based on markings on the bolt. Note the power steering runs of this pulley. I loosened the bolt on the alternator turned the bolt in to its original position, tightened everything up alternator & power steering and guess what, all is like new. Note: All belts were tight before it appears that this bolt slightly change the angle of the angle of the pulley or it may add some additional pressure.

98 Chev pickup air cond problem

1. Have the refridgerant fluid level checked. (Could be low)

2. Have you tried putting it on recirculate? Could be a venting issue.

Other than that it's out of my league.
