Drain it IMMEDIATELY!!! It could remove all of the protection your engine uses to keep it from wearing out. Be prepared to spend alot of money on oil to flush out the antifreeze! Also get a few oil filters! The first wash is CRITICAL....After you have let the engine drain OVERNIGHT, leaving the old filter off, Put back the drain plug and mount the new filter, and add the new oil. Run the engine until it is at operating temperature. Turn it off...drain it while HOT and pull the filter while hot (Use Gloves to keep from burning yourself). Let it drain overnight again. Repeat the process above running the car for 24 hours, then for 3 days, then for 1 week. After that last drain, you should be ready to see what damage was caused...hopefully not much if you didn't drive it too far...

Flushing the engine

Flushing the oil system you can get an additive at a chain auto parts store OR you can use diesel fuel 1Qt in with the oil instead of all oil. Ex 4qts of oil you could use 3 and put in 1Qt of diesel. Run it till it is hot and then drain and put in the oil you are going to use. You can get flush kits for the coolant system too, just remember you cannot let the antifreeze go into the street etc.

How can you tell if you cracked your engine block when it overheatedwhen you crack an engine when you overheat it

most of the time it will not start, if cracked..... but if it starts, and runs roughly..... have a mechanic look at it.... most of the time when an engine overheats, If you let it cool down by itself.... you are probably OK... NEVER PHYSICALLY POUR COLD WATER ON AN OVER HEATED ENGINE.!!!!!

Engine is overheating and I believe I can taste antifreeze in the engine oil we drained. We only drained a small amount.

One way to test for sure if there is antifreeze in your oil (and avoiding ingesting poisonous ethylene gylcol) is by placing a drop of oil on a hot exhaust manifold. If it boils, there is a antifreeze leak. Similarly, if you can light the oil on fire with a hand lighter, there is a gas leak as well. If you find antifreeze, you can try using a florescent dye to track the leak to its source.

White smoke petrol 1.4 renault clio.not stem

White smoke: White smoke is caused by water and or antifreeze entering the cylinder, and the engine trying to burn it with the fuel. If white smoke is present, check to see if the proper amount of antifreeze is inside the radiator and the overflow bottle. Also check to see if antifreeze has contaminated the engine oil. You can look at the engine oil dipstick, or look at the under side of the engine oil filler cap. If the oil is contaminated with antifreeze, it will have the appearance of a chocolate milkshake. Do not start the engine if the oil is contaminated with antifreeze, as serious internal engine damage can result.

It is also possible to be a engine problem you should immediate visit a car service.

I put some 5w-30 oil in my car it ran fine...then once i get to the gas station and put some regular gas in it and it starts to shake and white smoke started to come out the tail pipe the temp gage started...

You have antifreeze leaking into the cylinders....and when the spark ignites the fuel in the cylinder, the antifreeze is in there also giving you the smoke....

What does all this mean?

More than likely, you have a blown head gasket.....or a cracked cylinder head.

Dexcool does not cause leaks, but it should not be mixed with other antifreeze. Is it possible that the oil in the antifreeze is transmission fluid from a worn out radiator? The radiator cools the engine and the trans, and internally , the radiator may have ruptured?

I accidently poured antifreeze in the oil resevoir of my 1998 Pontiac Sunfire. What should I do?

You need to drain 1 quart of oil, pour in a bottle of engine cleaner, let car run for 3-5 min and drain oil. Install a new oil filter and re-fill with correct oil and amount. You can get by with just draining the oil and doing an oil change but I suggest running the engine cleaner along with changing the oil.

Makes extra oil, has died & won't start, rplaced o2 sensor started and ran for a bit, has now died again??

It can't make oil. It must be fuel or antifreeze mixing with the oil. Is it running really rich and flooding the engine out? That would explain gas in the oil. Or do you notice the antifreeze level going down?

I accidently put antifreeze instead of oil in my car what can or should I do?

Change the oil and filter, run it for a day and change it again, I know it can be expensive, but you want to make sure all the anti freeze is out of it.
