Yes, all these newer cars have them, plus a dozen other sensors.
Try having the throttle position sensor checked, and have a fuel pressure test done.Has it had a tune up lately, plugs wires, and fuel filter changed? Without doing a lot of testing to pin point the problem, you will be replacing things you don't need. (expensive).
A tune up would be a start, then have those other things checked.
good luck.

2,500 to 3,000 on a 12 yr old car. Newer vehicles with 6-9 speed auto transmissions sometimes run as low as 2,200. But your gearing is your gearing. Can't change that now.

When ever I am driving down the road and I accelerate, my check engine light starts flashing. Why?I have a 2001 hyundai accent, 1.5L engine 5 speed. It flashes for about 10 seconds and then stops.

it means you are doing irrepairable damage to the catalytic converter, you should take your car and have the trouble codes retrieved, sounds like you need an Oxygen sensor

Look for a vacuum leak somewhere. This is the most common problem for a high idle.
