Question about 2005 Nissan Altima 2.5
It is almost like the engine stumbles then picks up, also have noticed in traffic while at full stop car idles fine then seems to idle rougher than usual, also air will be on but idle just seems to be off tho.
First thing i would try is a new fuel filter,,if that dosen't solve it,the best thing to do is get a scan to see which sensor might be going bad.

take your car for a tune up
if they are carburetor type motors you may need your carbie cleaned and a tune up
if you clean it your self with carbie cleaner it may increase in idle speed this is nothing to worries about it is a simple adjustment
with a carburetor type motor they tend to idle higher when their cold this is the automatic choke kicking in and normally it should happen till the car is a bit warmer and the accelerator has been depresses
although a car should idle at 800 rpm my paddok car dose when it is cold it idles at 1200rpm i like it this way as the car warms up quicker as i will not drive a car while it is cold
hope this helps

i had a similar problem, with a different car though, and it turned out that the seals in the fuel pumps had been eaten away by the ethanol in the fuel i was using. i had the fuel pumps replaced as well as the filter and switched to a different fuel that contained no ethanol and i haven't had a problem since.

Dear Tajack73: Nissan had a voluntary recall campaign on the 2002,2005,2006 Altima's with the 2.5 litre engines It envolves reprogramming the ECM.
The campaign ID # RD0712 NHTSA #: 07V-527
2005 Altima Vin's 1N4AL11**5C 100003-957025
The symptom you have described fits the one they have describe in the bulletin. Check with Nissan and see if your car falls within the campaign. Let men know how you do.
