Well if it is flooding, either something is shorting out the injectors and causing them to be wide open, or one injector is stuck open, or you have a pressure regulator leaking liquid fuel into the intake.
Are all of the spark plugs wet ?
Can you start the engine if you disable the injectors ?

thank you for responding and yes I am getting all the plugs wet and I have disabled the fuel pump and it will run for a little bit with carb cleaner but it wont after that an I am getting make and brake at the injectors I like the idea about the regulator and thats going to be my next step

    Stephen Jan 13, 2013

Another thing to keep in mind is if the coolant temp sensor fails, the computer can default to 30 below zero which will flood the cylinders.

  • Ruben Perez Jan 13, 2013

how can I check the fuel pressure regulator?

  • Stephen
    Stephen Jan 14, 2013

The pressure regulator should be mounted on the fuel rail. If the diaphram fails, it will allow liquid fuel to be sucked into the intake thru the vac hose.

  • Ruben Perez Jan 14, 2013

pressure regulator is good but I noticed that power does not go to the temp sensor for the gauge any other suggestions so far youve been very helpful because Ive been a mechanic for over 25 years in the states but now Im in the middle of a small town in mexico trying without any testing equipment all i know is that i have no codes

  • Stephen
    Stephen Jan 14, 2013

Like I said before, if the coolant temp sensor fails the computer can think the air temp is 30 below zero and flood the engine with fuel. If you are looking at the engine temp sensor for the computer you may have found the problem. It may be time for a shop manual with wiring diagrams.

  • Ruben Perez Jan 14, 2013

maybe I shouldnt have but I put some juice to that wire thats supposed to be hot and the gauge went all the way to hot and tryed it and its doing the same thing I think Im going to go ahead and try another computer but in the meantime let me thankyou again because I can tell that you know your stuff and if I figure out how to give you the best points I sure will

  • Ruben Perez Jan 29, 2013

hey its me again with the 95 flooding mustang I replace4d the computer and now it seems like I am not getting enough fuel and the theft light keeps blinking what do you think

  • Stephen
    Stephen Jan 29, 2013

On most Ford models around 1999 you have to get the computer programmed to match the anti-theft system by the dealer. Otherwise it won't start.

  • Ruben Perez Jan 30, 2013

thanks for your answer but is there any way of bypassing it im in the middlew of nowwhere and have no dealerships nearby

  • Stephen
    Stephen Jan 30, 2013

I would go back to the original computer and try to find out why the injectors are flooding. I am now aware of a way t o reprogram the security or bypass it without a dealer scan tool. You may have to order a used set of shop manuals from Ebay and just go down the list.

SOURCE: check engine light

It might but what exactly are the codes. Before you change the Mass air flow sensor, try cleaning it first with a can of mass flow cleaner.
If your running a oil K&N filter, there could be some oil residue on the sensor. Start with that and change the filter or clean it if it's a K&N.
The O2 sensor's could be bad also, you really need the code's to be sure what sensor is giving you the faulty signal.
Good luck and hope this helps.

SOURCE: 1993 ford escort wagon,no electric to injectors

The fuel delivery system uses an electric fuel pump to provide high-pressure fuel to the fuel injectors. The fuel pump is located at the rear of the vehicle, mounted in the fuel tank. It can be accessed by removing the rear seat.

The fuel tubes leading from the fuel tank to the engine are under pressure during vehicle operation. When the engine is turned OFF, the fuel in the fuel tubes remains pressurized for long periods of time to provide quick start-ups. Fuel not used by the fuel injectors during operation is routed back to the fuel tank through the fuel return tube.

The fuel handling components are protected by three fuel filters. A replaceable in-line fuel filter is located inside the engine compartment between the fuel tank and fuel injection supply manifold. A serviceable filter screen is located inside the fuel tank at the fuel pump inlet. A non-serviceable filter screen is incorporated into each fuel injector.

98 buick regal tries to crank but floods the plugs what is the problem

Yup. Fuel supply problem. Could be a number of things. Check if the injectors are clicking when you crank. no click, no power to the injectors, problem with sensors data to the Ecu. If click, that part is not the problem. More likely Fuel pressure regulator is bad, not enough pressure, or fuel pump relay which controls the fuel pump. So either may be bad or connections are bad or wires cut. Fuel filter may be clogged. To test th fuel pump, you can jump from the battery positive to pump terminal for a short time to verify the pump is good. so then connections at pump, or from the fuel pump relay or it's connections to the ECU. Most disastrous may be the Ecu itself. Other sensors to the Ecu could contribute, but usually with code problems including sensors it goes into a "limp home" mode. overriding bad sensor inputs. If somehow you can get the error codes read at auto parts store, that may give you more clues than I can guess at. Good luck, hope this helps you out. I gave this answer to another query, but most of it applies in the opposite way, you are getting too much fuel (we used to call it flooding)

I think I would be looking at the crank angle sensor and/or the cam sensors on this vehicle. It seems to me the engine isn't getting the signal to fire up.What happens when you squirt some fuel into the combustion chamber ? If it fires up I would be looking at cleaning the injectors. If it doesn't fire up What's the pressure on the fuel rail. does it have a buy pass pressure valve on the rail. Some suggestions good luck

Timing correct firing off

what engine Shawn. ? how can we guess that?
besides following the FSM steps, we could:
ive rebuilt many engines (done many from scratch) +machine work.

1: I check compression 1st. on all cylinders. (i put oil in the cyl, 1 teaspoon) (some pros run oil gallery primers pumps first in pro rebuild shops) i just crank the zero fuel engine until i see max oil pressure.)

oops. ? no oil pressure, oops, compression bad. on 1 jug.
(all that good, so)
2: i then crank it over , with no spark or fuel and check for top end oiling. Valve covers off. (so those V.C go on last)
ive watched many an noob burn up a new engine, not doing the steps in the rebuilders books. it only takes me 30min. to do this. why skip it.?

3: ok , I got top end oil, got 150psi on all jugs. (hard work pay back)

4: i check for spark all cyl. it's strong, & out comes the timing light.
oops, timing is off, or spark wires routed wrong, (dizzy engines)
i check all cylinders for hot spark and #1 timed right. and routed right.
the strobe light never ever lies to me....

MILESTONE 1: TEST FUEL moments.
5: wow ,car runs on test fuel (spray can, CRC engine start with top end lube feature) (fuel pump is shut off on purpose , in all steps to here)
i repeat this say 3 times, listening carefully for noises, that are not good. (why start the engine and watch it blow up. )
It is so good, to hear it run for 3 seconds,, wow.
im 100% sure you can get here..... if you do the steps.
Now comes, light the fires and kick the tires. not FIRST.

6: now comes fuel
how to get fueling to work.
that takes understanding the ASD and how to use a $1 NOID lamp.

I check injectors then add fuel pressure.
are the injectors firing?
injectors ,click cranking ?(stethoscope tool $5)
if not, use the NOID, is the PCM firing the NOID? y/n?

why do this , with pump dead.
Answer to not wreck your new rings, all washed free of all oil buy
injected, unburned raw fuel .. that is why.
i get all my injectors firing then , turn the fuel pump on.
its your hard labor, 50 hours? to build and engine?
wana waste all that? nah.
I last , plug my fuel pump back in,
does the PCM start enging for 2 seconds, and then cuts fuel?
BAM ASD.
http://www.fixkick.com/Jeeps/ASD.html

ive never burned up a new engine, yet,
im not lucky, or smart, just had good teachers.

jeep ways!
I kill my pump by pulling the pump feed wire.
i do that because some newer jeeps , kill everything (ASD) including spark,
if you pull the fuel pump relay. (jeeps with new pump monitor features)
so i cut the feed AFT of the relay, on all cars. (conn. pulled)
the FSM shows this spot.

hope that helps.

Suzuki Aerio 2004, will crank over floods out tho. Changed Plugs and Boots. New baterry too. Can smell gas @ Tail pipe. Wants to fire-but just won't catch. Where do I start looking for the answers.?

what engine? 2.3 or 2.5L?
all cylinders flooding??? spark tips on ALL dripping in gas?
check spark at all spark plugs ( ALL not just ONE)
if spark is good.
this engine is chain cam, so it makes huge noise before death.
did it?, nah
ok, so connect any $9 scan tool, and scan it. (barrow /rent.?)

you crank it for 5 seconds, not less.
and as you crank the scan tool RPM shows 250 to300 rpm and fails to start, the RPM on the tool shows you that the crank sensor is working
now release the key and do not turn off
look for DTC errors. got P0340,355? or any other DTC
that decodes to bad CMP or CKP/
yes, BINGO, the scan tool told you why spark is dead, or way off
timing,

the PCM will report Cmp or CKP errors even 1 in 6 pulses.
the PCM runs monitors against these 2 full time. and will see it fail.
and report, it, let it tell why spark is bad.
say spark is good. and still floods.
1: engine compresssion over 150psi? W.O.T?
2: flooding , i pull the fuel pump relay and crank now.
starts and runs for 3 -5 seconds, yes, that is the flood clearing
so i then try test fuel, runs perfect now (no fuel pump) ???
runs for 3 second, each test fuel usage. well good motor, good spark.
what more do you want? sure to run
so you have either insane high fuel pressure. or injectors leaking
can and does happen.
the tests are all in the FSM under injector and pump testing.
i check fuel pressure first. as its a mandatory thing.....
to factory spec. for unsaid engine.
then i do a injector leak down and balance check.
ask if you get this far.....????

2003 Suzuki Grand Vitara won't start engine

what engine, state engine size and country.
there can only be 3 ways, to fail.
bad engine (low compresssion, us the $20 tool at WOT and see over 170psi.
Bad spark
bad fueling.
just because spark coils (COPS?) work on other car , dont mean much.
what counts is your car , its a system.
the cops, have fast 5mS pulse when firing, you using a scope to see that?
Im so curious, why not to the time old test, use a real spark plug
attached to the COP end, spark plug shell grounded to engine metal
and crank, is spark good x4? or x6 if V6 (engine NOT STATED)
is it? then spark is good, leaving fueling.
do not touch the spark plug cranking, it can hit 100,000 volts.
I use a ground strap on the spark plug casing, hands free, or you can be hurt bad, by the spark or when you jump and cut arm backing off
on cars that flood, is it flooding?
I found my engine compression good, then found all 4 sparks fire good.
so i pull the fuel pump relay. killing fueling.
i then use "test fuel" to start engine (again, text book tests)
I use the new CRC brand of test fuel with top end oiling.
i spray it in the plenum, and it starts.
if the spark plugs are bad, (part oftune it up)
it may not start if flooded,
use WOT at the throttle (cuts fuel) and start any flooded engine.
if the spark tips are black and stink of raw fuel (wet with fuel)
that means flooding.
pull the fuel pump relay ,test fuel runs for 3 seconds. each time.
3 second spray max. each time.
if that works out, then find reason for flooding if flooding.
if not flooding, you find dry sparks.
then trouble shoot no fuel.
fuel pressure not near 30 PS?
fuel pressure too high say, 60, it will flood for ever.
there are only 3 tests.
and 4 counting wet /dry sparks.
the tests done, will put you on the correct path every time.
no guessing, no swapping parts to other cars.

As mentioned by you the fuel discharge is too much which seems to FLOOD the cylinders and so makes the firing difficult. So the fuel tuning must be done to ensure the correct pressure.
Also check if the spark intensity is good as if there is no spark there will be fuel flooding.
Have the fuel pump calibrated and the injectors checked, if not replace.

start with trying to start the car with your foot hard on gas pedal, all the way to the floor this will stop fuel flow on start up its called clear flood mode. as the engine starts to fire and run ease off the pedal until it idles, it may take some time to run smoothly. if it doesnt run or stalls after a short time and then will not run i would try a ECU engine control unit as it supplies the earth circuit to the injectors, may be thats whats holding them open or they are dribbling badly and require overhauling

the fuel injectors are fired by computer producing a ground signal to them. so its unlikely they are fireing at once.possible power supplie problem but that would cause no injector pulse.beings how the engine was just replaced i would go over every wire and all grounds to make sure they are not shorted or pinched under a manifold or something.if you pull the plugs and they are black then you are getting to much gas. in wich case i would check to see if the fuel pressure regulator diaphram may be ruptured.if you take off the vacuum hose to it and look for moisture from gasoline. or leave hose off and try to start it if gas squirts out that regulator is bad and needs replacement
