Engine miss I am looking at buying a 1990 Ford Taurus SHO The guy is telling me that it has a miss in it when it warms up and that the car just acquired it after it set in his garage for 6 months my thoughts on this is that it is bad gas. This is what he said though that he put all this on new and that it still didnt fix the problem new parts 02 sensors, map sensor, plugs, wires, coil pack, filters, ignition module he also said that he had bought a couple trouble shootin guides vacume troubleshooting manual and electric manualto be exact and he said he still couldnt find where the miss is comin from i live 500 miles away from the guy and somethin is just not sounding right with me and i would rather know what i am gettin myself into ahead of time before i drive all the way up there and buy a hunk if u know what i mean! He also said that he put a new fuel pump in it and that it was setting before that i dont know if the gas he got wasnt that great or what but he said that he can drive it down the road about 30 miles long enough for the car to get warmed up and once it is warmed up that is when the miss starts??? Please help!

Ok i think that the problem is the thermostat if you change it and still the same maybe is possible that is getting water into the heater and you need to buy a new ones ore go to rectificate where is the crack in your heaters and if can solve the problem, you are gone to now if is the heater by turning on the car an wait to star to run the fan and if the air is cold over the engine thats the problem

OK, I know that this will sound Stupid. Change the Gas Cap. It starts missing when it warms up and (Gets preassure built up in the gas tank) If the Seal on the Gas Cap is bad, It will **** air into the Fuel tank and will mix with the Fuel Causing a Miss. It has worked many times Before!

Ford didn't make the Taurus sho in 2007. The sho were made between 1989-1999 and then 2010-present. In 2007 the Taurus was only offered in SE and SEL trim.

How to put serpentine belt on a 2004 taurus. instruction & diagram

The 8th digit of your car's VIN (vehicle identification number) tells you the engine
type for your car - your choices for Ford Taurus are U (3.0L), and S (3.0L).
I've included the Ford SHO engine too.

Water Pump belt for Ford 3.4L SHO engine

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
  1. Attach a 15mm socket or wrench to the bolt attaching the tensioner pulley.
  2. On all 3.0L (OHV) engines, rotate the drive belt tensioner clockwise to relieve belt tension and slide the belt off the pulleys.
  3. On 3.0L (DOHC) engines, rotate the tensioner counterclockwise to relieve belt tension and slide the belt off the pulleys.

To install:
  1. Install the drive belt on all the pulleys except the tensioner pulley.
  2. Rotate the belt tensioner as outlined in the removal procedure to relieve belt tension and install the belt onto the tensioner pulley. Make sure the V-grooves make proper contact with the pulleys. Make sure the spring keeper releases or improper belt tension will occur.
Tip: you may want to get (free) a serpentine belt installation tool kit to help with this job.
Both Advance Auto Parts and AutoZone wisely have loan-a-tool programs that permit you
to borrow (for a deposit) their serpentine belt installation kits - which allow their
handy customers to use their auto parts rather than towing it to a garage.

The Ford dealer has a book called an EVTM(Electrical Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual). It has the diagram and they will usually make you a copy of it for no cost.

IT is a 1998 taurus SHO model very rare it seems to be. Why can't I find a place that will sell me a Ford Taurus Manual for a 1996-1999 taurus SHO model with the 3.4 V8 yamaha engine.

If you are looking for a haynes manual or something which are based on complete tear down and rebuilds of the car, i would see if on the book itself it lists your engine, yamaha only made one car engine really and it was for the SHO which is fantastic however rare, look online and in google for a manual that lists your car, if you are not a fan of buying online, try phoning a company but unless the book you are searching does not list your engine it might cover all the rest but not your powertrain.

Here is a book i found online its a chilton.
