Are they suggesting to replace the complete conv top, the hydrolics, or the front section of the conv top. 90% of the problems that I have seen have been fixed by replaceing the front bow section of the conv top. What exactly is faulty / broken. Does the sunroof section of the conv top open? Do the latches unlatch? Does the hydrolic pump run after the rear windows drop? Give me more information so I can possibly narrow it down

Talk to your dealer, they should make a claim to MINI. Just look on google, you are not the first with this problem. In many cases MINI has covered the labour and sometimes the parts. Find as many simular problems as you can on the internet (www.mini2.com, www.northamericanmotoring.com) and print these and take them with you to your dealer.
It should cost you not more than $400

The top is controlled by you guessed it a computer module, have the dealer test that with a scan tool. The top is very complex in the control end, not simple like the old Mustangs I used to fix

Hi, When i press the button to open the electric (convertable) roof it only starts to open on the left side, the right side is not even responding... Do you have any idea why or how this is...

More than likely the cable on the inside of the right mechanism snapped. To repair it, the entire mechanism needs replaced to the tune of upwards of $3000 USD. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. And even worse is there is no real way to check it without pulling the mechanism apart. I hope you find this information useful. You may wish to stalk the junkyards for one out of a junker. You can probably hook one of those up for about $300.00. You may also wish to look for the lift mechanism. Here is a place that has both, pretty reasonably priced. They could also help you to pinpoint the problem better based on you actual experience.

Have a 2005 mini cooper convertable, when driving and get over 30mph atleast, the abs light comes on, check engine light comes on, speedometer stops working, low tire light comes on, and the dsc light come...

Have you checked the drain hole in the bottom of the plenum chamber? It can block and the plenum floods, partially submerging the ABS control unit.

Convertable roof and trunk won't open

The Roof Mechanism works with two motors similiar to the ones that wund the windows. Now the two mechanism are located in the left side of the trunk.

The trunk wont open Because of the roof lid that is not closed properly. How you can test this is to press down on the right sid of the roof lid and then try to opne the trunk.

Now the reason that this is happening is that the roof lid is not closing properly nad pressing on a small orange buttin located just below the right hand side roof lid catch. How you are going to remedy this problem is to adjust the cable tension to close more securely.

Now the two motors in the trunk that works the convertable roof can be engaged and disengaged on motor works the roof lid and the other one the roof.

You need to get these motors in sync so that they open and close the roof in the correct order.

That is if the electric are still working.
