Replaced the knock sensor after a diagnostic said it needed to be replaced. drove the vehicle for the recomended miles had been driven and now what do i do to reset the check engine light?

disconecting the battery for half an hour or more should reset the computer. Take off the negitive (black) terminal clamp. Make sure you have the radio security code and instructions to reset the radio afterwards. If the check engine light stays on after there is a fault that is retripping the light

How to turn the sevice warning light off after oil change ?

BMW Model E39 built from 1996~2000 will have a port like the one shown below. A Reset tool like a Peake R5 or R5-FCX is needed to reset the oil service or inspection service lights after required service.

1) If you have a reset tool then turn your car key to Position II but do not start the car.
2) Turn the cap counter clock wise on the Data Link Connector and insert the Reset Tool
3) Follow the instructions of your reset tool, different models may have different functions however they all create a short in PIN 7 to PIN 19 for a given amount of time.

  • OIL Service Reset requires pin 7 and 19 to be closed for 3+ seconds
  • INSPECTION Service Reset requires pin 7 and 19 to be closed for 10+ seconds

  • 4) Once done, remove the reset tool and close the cap .
    5) Your dash should light up with green lights at this point.
    If the light did NOT reset after the above steps then you might be resetting Oil Service however an Inspection Service is needed.

    Can't get pistons to turn back in,after replacing rear brake pads

    hi from uk the rear calipers pistons need to be rotated with piston also pressed inwards there is a tool specially for this you can purchase from auto supermarket ? it is simple to operate and the cheapest tool i recommend is one made by draper tool company other than this try pushing piston whilst rotating clockwise it would also help if you slacken bleed nipple on caliper to ease pushing piston back do not forget to bleed brakes later hope this helps?

    How do I compress the rear brake piston on 2007 buick lacross?

    hi from uk most rear brake calipers have auto adjust mechanism and yours may be the same as on uk models whereas to compress the piston back into caliper to facilitate fitting new pads ? you have to both press and rotate piston and this sends piston back on the screw auto adjuster you will notice that piston has a couple of slots on its head ? this is there for enabling screw back having said this there is a rear caliper piston compress tool that does this job and the cheapest tool and good quality is made by draper tools and costs approx £10 in uk but can be obtained at any good auto stores and has instructions on use well worth the investment ? just one tip pistons normally screw back clockwise however! on fiats? the nearside screws anticlockwise so just observe that piston is going back when rotating c/wise if not you can fit a 3/8" drive extension and t bar to the rotator boss and using pressure ?turn piston a/clockwise hope this helps one word of advice !make sure you bleed brakes afterwards to clear out dirty fluid untill clean fluid shows this will improve brake pedal best wishes from uk

    How to remove an ECU from an Audi multitronic gearbox

    1. Jack the car up on Axel stands/ramps or if you have access to a pitit will make life a little easier. 2. You need to remove the splash guard underneath the car so you can seethe back of the gear box. 3. Drain the gear box of oil which will require a special tool which youcan get for £10 from Draper Expert 1/2 Square Drive Drain Plug Key For VW Or Audi63476 Draper Hdpk1. 4. Remove the electronic cable that connects onto the ECU that protrudesout the back of the back of the gear box. 5. The back of the gearbox has 12 torques holding the cover in place.Once you have removed most of them you will need to remove the rear enginemount to get at the last torque bolt at the top of the gear box. 6. Support the gear box with a trolley jack so you can lower the gearboxto get at the last few torques. 7. The rear engine mount can be slid towards the back of the car so youcan get at the back of the gear box. There is a couple of other bolts that youwill need to remove that hold the ECU cable in place. 8. Once you have all the torques that hold the gearbox in place thecover can be slid off. 9. Once the cover is removed be careful not to bend the metal gasket asit can be used again as long as it's not damaged (Audi would probably changethis along with the ECU seal). 10. Once the cover is off you can now see the ECU which is held in placeby 3 torques or Star bolts. 11. After the 3 torques have been removed you can then slide the ECU offbut be careful not to bend or tilt it as you remove it from the gearbox as ithas guide rails made of plastic which can break easily.

    hiya the rear disc brakes are as front disc brakes auto adjusting however the rear brake calipers pistons have to be wound back into the caliper to enable new pads to be fitted if you look at piston you will see they have either slots or holes in the surface this is for a sutable implement/tool to fit and then turned clockwise whilst pressing piston as you wind/rotate it back into caliper for your info there is a tool made for this purpose made by draper or seeley tools which makes job easy diy and cost £9--99 uk and can be bought from most auto stores ? however it is possible to manage with the spanner with horse shoe open end commonly supplied with circular hand saws the spanner is the one used for replacing blade? i have used this in past with success but now have the expensive univesal tool for the job hope this helps?

    hi assume you wish to fit new pads ? if so the the rear caliper pistons are not as front calipers just push back you have to wind back the pistons whilst applying pressure to piston there is a tool specially for this purpose which saves time and effort cheapest un uk is the one made by draper tool Co see motor stores? however! you can improvise and manually wind pistons back using the U shape spanner with 2x prongs that is commonly used/supplied to circular saws and this is spanner for changing blades ? does the trick if you have or can borrow one? look at pistons and you will see where tool locates you just turn c/wise and press piston as you do and it will retract have a little patience! the most important tool in the box that money can't buy ! hope this helps best wishes from uk
