Question about 2002 Mazda 626

1 Answer

My 2002 mazda 626 has been having electrical problems. the battery and alternator have both been replaced. lately whenever the car's died, I've wiggled the battery and the car's started again. There's no corrosion on the battery terminals. I can't hardly get my car to start now let alone try to take it to someone to look at it. What should I do?

Since it Started Before by wiggling the Battery, You have a Loose Battery Cable. You Probably need to Tighten the Battery Cables and let it run for a While to Recharge the Battery.

When you say everything goes dead are we talking all lights, radio, wipers? If so, main power or ground cables bad or fusible link. If just engine, check coil, ignition module, crank/cam position sensor.

Can anyone guess at & list ten items?

You have to know basic auto mechanics
& have some test equip, such as a fuel pressure
gauge,volt meter & code reader.

Without factory quality diagnostic manuals to study
& follow, you will be asking for help for years.

Do you have fuel pressure at the engine?

Do you plan on buying wiring diagrams as you
progress to finding components to test in the
electrical system

You can't throw parts at it in the hope you will
get lucky, you have to develop your own test
strategy you use on all vehicles,& that requires
a great deal of theory & basic knowledge.

This sounds like the distributor. It is a very common problem with these cars.

Check the Fuel injection system (injectors) and the intake manifold. It might also be wise to check the alternator as well as the starter coil and also the electronic distributor
