SOURCE: Door very stiff won't close tight

I have the same problem with the side doors of my 04 express. I put penetrating oil on the hinge pin with a hypodermic needle (hard to find). It is important that the oil gets into the hinge. I bent one set of hinges and broke a hinge because I waited too long to oil the hinge. The door may not close correctly because the hinge may be slightly bent. Keep all other hinges well lubed especially during the winter months when the hinges can be exposed to road salt. Fixing a bent hinge is difficult at best.

SOURCE: 1995 Chevy suburban back door hinges too stiff

Lubricate the hinge or the hinge will have to be replaced.. I recommend wd40 first, then a finger tip amount of grease on top of hinge pin. the oil from the grease will keep the hinge constantly lubricated. It's not too late.

My driver's door will no longer open. I noticed it had started to sag but saw no way to adjust it. What do I do? I have a 1999 Z71

the correct fix is to replace the door hinges
the next best fix is to loosen of the bolts that hold the door hinges to the door pillar and lift the lock side of the door
then while holding the door up , retighten the hinge bolts

The doors on my 1989 Ford Mustang (hinges) sanging. What is the fix for this? (maybe hinge pins or total hing replacement). Also, door handles outside stick and dont operate correctly? Idea fix?

You may need new hinge pins, replacement of the catch pin may be helpful as well. The plastic bushing on these tend to go bad letting the door hang lower and making it difficult for the handle to open the door.

My 1999 vw beetles doors ae heavy to open and close very stiff

Use WD40 on the hinges and let soak in for ten minutes. wipe off the excess then apply White lithium grease to the hinged area and swing the door open and closed at least ten times to work in
The lubricants can be purchased at any discounted Hardware store to save money

Where is the gas lever on 94 golf

There is no lever for the fuel filler flap. It locks via the central lock of the car & is unlock when you unlock the car. There will be a finger access to pull the door open or push the door in & it will spring out.
The locking mechanism does fail to work & the door will be locked shut.
The owners manual has a description of what to do if the lock fails.
The hinge can seize up & be stiff to open.

Car door problems

Check the hinges force the door open and check the hinge and hinge pins. If those are bent then they will need to be replace. Also besides banging out the door there is not a lot that you can do but take it to a body shop. So I would do the hinge thing first ALOT cheaper

Doors on my truck

You probably need new door hinges. Open the door, lift up on the door while watching the hinges, you should not see any movement at the hinge location. If there is play there, replace the hinges. To remove door hinges, place a floor jack under the door for support while u remove hinges. There should be some adjustment at the hinges, and door latch to fine tune the fit and how it closes. Good luck, let me know how u make out.

94 jeep cherokee door troubles

from the late 80's to the 90's jeep cherokees have a known problem with there front door hinges. the first time i seen this on a jeep i thought it was a fluke but now owning a 93 cherokee i am goin through the same problem... most of the time its not the door pins (i am not saying this is not what is wrong with yours, but for the most part it is not the pins). on the inside of the sheet metal, where the door hinges are welded onto, tend to rust/wear out and cause up and down play in the top door hinge. the only way to fix it is to take the door off and reweld a new brace or support underneath the sheet metal, and the weld the door back into place... my jeep is goin threw this process right now... but if you dont fix the door soon it will acually rip the top door hinge out of place, allowing the door to almost touch the ground when opened.
