My interior lights and door panel lights won't go out

I have a 2000 beetle and something keeps draining the battery, we noticed that the door panel light on the drivers side isn't going out and the interior lights are staying on even when the door is shut, also the alarm will not activate, It acts like its not computing that the door is shut, what should we look for??

The power windows work fine, and so do the visor lights. We had to click all the interior lights into off position, otherwise they stay on all the time even with the door shut and we had to pop out the door panel light until we could figure out the problem, we looked for a button to press by the door but couldn't find one. I actually have a 2001 beetle but listed it as a 2000 because we have learned it has mixed parts, like the mirrors are 2000 model and so is the engine, but the mfg date is a 2001?? go figure ???Thanks for getting back to me so quickley :)

I have the answer to your problem. One of 2 things. Cut wiring harness in the door accordain between the frame and the door. Or most common a defective door latch. The door latch contains the microswitch that tells the comfort module that the door is open or closed. If the lights stay on this means the switch thinks the door is always open. Also the alarm will not activate. First make sure no cut wires then if not replace the door's defective latch.

I have a 2003 VW Beetle TDI. I'm having some electrical issues with it and am looking for a shop to do the repairs. For some reason when you start it, the interior light stays on and there is a loud...

You need to find a repair shop that have a VagCom scan tool or similar. This will allow live data to be viewed to determine which switch is reporting a constantly open door and draining the bbattery. The wipersissue sounds like a worn switch.Phone around the local garages and find who has the necessary equipment first. Standard scan tool will NOT throw up a code for this.

The display keeps saying one of the doors is open and the interior lights keep coming on. I had to remove the fuse for the interior lights just to keep my battery from draining.

Check for a stuck or broken door switch inside the door panel. I will somewhere on the cars body where the door seals. If the switch appears to be ok put the fuse back in and push the switch in and release it to see if you lights turn off and on.

The interior dial lights are out - 2000 vw beetle

if you checked the fuses, and they are all good most likely the plug popped out or is loose, or bulb burnt out if only one bulb., and you will have to remove some dashboard to get at it

that black metal housing is riveted in place, you might have to drill them out and replace with bolts or something of that nature to hold it inplace. make sur eyou are getting power to the window motor to crank up and not just down, is the motor bolted all the way down.

Something draining battery on 2000 VW Beetle Turbo

If you are sure you have a key off battery drain, what you need to do is connect an ammeter to the negative side of the battery(disconnect the negative battery cable and connect one side of the ammeter to the battery terminal and one side to the and one side to the battery cable) note the reading and start pulling fuses one at a time making sure to put them back in their proper slot when the reading an the ammeter goes down to normal the short will be on the circuit of the fuse you have pulled if any part of these instructions is too difficult have the problem checked by a dealer

The electronic memory relates to radio and drivability accumulated adjustments by the computer, not the types of issues that you list with meanwhile area... Look for grounding issues. Why was the battery replaced, was it a cause or a victum?

2000 jeep cherokee interior lights wont turn off

I would check the door adjar switches. IF all the door adjar switches check okay, then check the head light switch .

Assuming the head light switch and door adjar switches are okay , Then there is a wiring problem. This is the worst case scenario .
