Clutch isn't working. Have mechanic check the "clutch master cylinder or the slave cylinder". Or fluid level in the Master cylinder for the clutch system. Mayhap it's just low. Which could mean a leak or the clutch friction assembley is worn out. You didn't say the mileage.

Sounds like you have a clutch problem. first thing to check is the fluid level in your clutch master cylinder, which is near your brake master cylinder for fluid level. It uses same fluid as brakes. See what you find out & get back if need more help.

There are bushings on the shifter rods where the transaxle and the shifter rods connect and they are worn out. Replacing these will solve that problem. I had one do the exact same thing a few years ago and drove me nuts. This is most likely the problem. Either that or the transmission mount is severely worn out. Check that as well because they can imitate one another.

How do i replace gear oil in a 1991 honda accord with a five speed transmission

There should be a drain bolt facing horizontally near the bottom of the transaxle. Removing that, allow it to drain. Should be another bolt about half way up the case. Fill it up to that hole.

My son's car is a Honda Accord 91 and he said that when he drives it as of late the car changes gears to high or low. Sometimes it drives well then the gears shift to slow. What problem can this be??

this is one of the first "fuzzy logic" boxes fitted by honda,
the gearchange pattern will change dependant on the driving style of the driver.
first check the trans level.then without touching the gas put car in gear and let it run to max speed(about 30/35mph).stop.
then put 1/3rd gas pedal down (keep it still)and let car go to max speed, stop.then floor the gas to a safe top speed for the test road...then stop.you have just reset the change mode.
if you drive the car with only 1/3rd gas the car will change lowdown the rev range(boring) and save you a fortune in gas...
if son drives different to you the car will know who is driving and change accordingly(takes about 30 miles to react)
it is NOT in any handbook.

Transmisson car stay at 3rd gear

Thats a common issue with the TCM when is about to go out.. Once you get to 3rd gear take you foot off the pedal the if you let go of the pedal and slowly accelerate it should go in 3rd gear. You can order a unit from this site with a lifetime warranty. Good Luck and the HONDA on the road.
