Question about Cars & Trucks
When driving tonight I notices that when I was at idle (a stop sign or in the drive thru) my heater was blowing out cold air. Any ideas where to start before I take it into a shop.
Try checking to make sure your thermostat is working. They are cheap and easy to replace, wouldn't hurt to just get a new one.

It sounds to me like you have a plugged heater core, or one that is beginning to plug. With the engine running, carefully feel the two hoses that lead from the engine into the heater core in the firewall. If one of those hoses is colder than the other one then you heater core needs to be replaced. This involves removing a bunch of stuff under the dash. Sometimes it's pretty easy and sometimes not. Start by removing the glove box and you should be able to see the plastic housing for the heater core.

There is a well known problem that is a manufacturer's defect with the soldered connection on the circuit board behind the temperature knob. There is a fix to re-solder the connections but the dealer will gladly take $450 to replace it with the same bad board that will last you a while. Look for the link to show you how to fix it yourself.
