Question about 2006 Toyota Corolla

Lock Door with Keys in the Ignition

I would like to lock my doors with the car running. I know that is a strange request but I often travel alone with my dog and especially in extreme weather need to be able to provide heat and a/c when I can't be in the car and she can't come with me.

I have tried removing the remote and locking the door with remote once I get out. I've tried pressing the lock button on the door as I'm getting out. But every time it unlocks itself.

This is a great feature if you don't want to lock yourself out but I need a way to override it. Any suggestions?

You can have the dealer to program the door locks for you using a feature called "customize" in the cars body ecu using theiur computer. They can be set it to lock or unlock when the car is put into Park, or lock/unlock when its put into Drive, and some other functions. They can adjust these setting in you car usually by using their computer, but a very few cars have info in the owners manual, that shows a sequence of door lock operations that will change these settings. You can check the owner's manual in the door lock section, but if that doesnt have the info (most likely it wont) have the dealer customize it to suit your needs.

Started car and have ABS, BRAKE, and airbag lights on in dash. Also the electric locks don't work as well as the heater controller. Please help!! There is no fuses blown either

Hello This sounds like a bad earth or a wire has broke. Check any wires that go through the A post to the door. Opening and closing the door makes these wires brittle, especially the black one which is the thickest and can cause all kinds of strange problems. Move back the rubber cover and move each wire. If this does not help ask me again and I will try to give you some more pointers.

Hello... ou! Does anyone know What to remove to replace head gasket on 2003 chevy trailblazer LT 6cyl 3rd Row seat? please, thanks!

I think the reason no one has answered your request is because the process is extremely hard and difficult to explain on a site like this. This type of repair is not recommended for an inexperienced person, especially because of the overhead cam timing mechanism.

My 2000 cougar, i can't get my hood open. THE PULL LATCH INSIDE CAR SEAMS THAT CABLE IS NOT CONNECTED TO THE PULL.

Hi ,
This problem is extremly common. Let me explain something.....
Chances of the cable being broken are very slim. The cable has around 1200 lbs of tensile strength, wheras you can only exert about 30-50 lbs force while pulling the handle inside the vehicle. You can however verify the cable is still attatched by pulling on the handle and feeling behind it with a pair of needle nose pliers to grasp the cable. An extra twist down pull motion at that time can also be achieved to make the cable pull a slight bit beyond its intended travel path. If it pulls very far, it could indeed be detached from the hood latch, but this is highly unlikely. Usually the hood pin gets stuck in the lock due to the fact that people do not lubricate the locks on their car (hood, doors, trunk, rear hatch, etc.). Periodically all these locks , door pins and recievers should be lubricated with white lithium grease and the lube worked in by hand to prevent sticky lock mechanisms. (a squirt of WD-40 into your door locks as well will make them work smoother)
After you have verified your cable is indeed attatched still, push down sharply on the hood and release. This will either reset the lock mechanism or release the hood pin. Try that a couple times, pulling the inside release in between times until your hood pops open. Once open, lubricate the lock in all moving areas and manually work the lock and release a few times to work the grease into the jointed parts to prevent this from occuring again. Do this for all the locks on your vehicle and especially around the pins in the door hinges to reduce wear and insure trouble free lock mechanisms.

How can I lock the door so that my dog does not set the burglar alarm off - in my previous car if I pressed the lock button on the key fob 4 times the car was locked but the burglar alarm was not...

I BELIEVE that it's a double press on the lock button for this model. This is what I'm being told, but I have no evidence to back that up. Give it a try!

I have left my key in the ign.. and my dog lock all doors how can i get in?

Deza3,

Hopefully we are talking electric locks. You don't have On-Star do you? Just a thought.

If you are at home, Get some treats or one of your dogs toys or a steak. Yeah, that's the ticket, a big steak. Whatever you choose, I will now refer to as 'IT'.

Be patient as you do this, after an hour or more your dog will get confused as to why you aren't opening the doors. Don't get mad, or worried, make it a game.

The object of the game is to have a puppy paw connect with the unlock button. If you have a second person available, put them on door handle duty.

Get your dog interested by holding IT up so they can see IT. Act excited. Look what I have for you. Bob up and down, your dog will follow your motions. Keep playing until the button gets pushed.

I've help several people get stranded pups out of cars this way. You'll be surprised at how smart your dog can be.

My dogs have their owns keys, but I have the remote

Good luck and be careful

1999 Buick century anti lock signal and trac off displayed when traveling over 60 miles per hour

You will be best off bringing the car in for service. If the anti-lock signal comes on, it means that your ABS system has a fault and you do not have anti-lock brakes functioning. When the light comes on the car runs on your brakes alone, no anti-lock.

To check the codes and the ABS system, the car should really be serviced.

Good luck!!

No power to passenger door window or lock, drivers door ok, cannot open passenger window or lock from drivers door This is a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado truck 2500

I know this sounds strange but I believe the problem is in the drivers door. This is where the master switch is and controls the other doors. Have it tested or replaced. Hope this helps. Good luck.
