Question about 1995 GMC Sierra C1500

1 Answer

Shifting problems transmittion stays in first gear too long. In order to get it to shift before the RPM's are to high you have to let off the gas and coax it to shift. Is it possible to adjust this or possibly replace something to fix it.

This truck should have a 4l60e trans No shift cable electonicaly controled. I recomend you take it to shop and pay the 40 or 50 to have them put it on their diagnostic If there is something internaly causing this it could ruin your trans. It could be as simple as needing to flush the trans or it could need a more intensive repair. These new transmissions are hard to diagnose without have them to look at and see what exactly is happening.

Trouble in shifting

I am having trouble understanding what you are saying but it sounds like you are saying the transmission shift points are too high. (Holds the gears too long, RPM's too high before it shifts) RIght? Check to see if you have vacuum to the modulator at Idle. If yes replace the modualtor.

My transmisson makes a weezing sound when im at low speed

You sure its the transmission? Wheezing sound is usually the catylitic converter becoming plugged. Also...at 3-5K rpm you are not idling, you are reving the engine...(in that case, trans may be slipping or flairing between shifts, unless the unit is staying in one gear and just delaying shift till you reach that rpm. actual shift point should be close to 2,000rpm) I'd check the cat first.

ummm i would say you need to adjust your trans shift cable, check your fluid level, and the problem i had with my dodge was similar to yours... it was my 3rd-4th actuator spring, it had broke and couldnt hold the pressure to keep it in gear

the problem is your shifting rods in your transmission. they are worn down and need new ones. if it won't shift into any high gears then you need to replace the rod to which iy won't shift into. they are cheap parts. about 40 to 60 bucks for a set.
