Be extremely careful doing this. There is a plug under the hood that disables the air bags. Disconnect the plug before attempting to disassemble the steering wheel. A Chilton manual will give you all the information you need to do the job.

SOURCE: remove d/s airbag

disconnect the battery, then find the air bag plug normally under the seat or around side of the seat, maybe under the carpet *bright orange cable*

once you have disconnected the battery and the cable start taking the steering wheel apart and remove it, after market steering wheel will be needed unless your just going to cut the air back out and re fit the wheel, do not connect the air bag cable, you will have a dash light on the dash for air bag doing this though.

This may not be what you want to 'hear'.

I advise you to STOP!
The force of one of these airbags deploying, can easily break your neck, or remove parts of your head!

I know how that sounds coming from a stranger, but most of all I wish you to be SAFE!

MANY mechanics have made a fatal mistake when removing an airbag. All it takes is one small static spark, and the bag will deploy.
The bag deploys so fast, you won't Even have time to respond, and get out of the way!

The metal bracket of the air bag must be faced away from you, you should wear an ESD wrist strap, (And have it connected to a good ground), the bag must be held in a certain position when installing, and there is criteria to meet with the car, (Battery, connections for the air bag deploy switch, etc.), also.

Airbag's are already deployed? What about the new ones you will install? Please, leave this to a pro.
Thank you for letting me state this.

SOURCE: Remove driver's-side mirror on 2003 Pontiac Bonneville

Remove the small triangle panel in the corner of the window, one clip. then to remove all of the door panel you can pry starting at the bottom and work to the sides. once all push clips are off. (they really sound bad when they come loose, but that is normal.) push the panel up to remove the last two holders behind the door handle. You will have to remove these later with a needle nose pliers and slide them back on the door panel before you reinstall. remove elect from block and remove the Three screws holding the mirror. they are 10MM I think. and the mirror will practicly fall our. Or just hit something with it like my wife does and they come off pritty easy.

I have a 2000 Pontiac Bonneville my air blows hot air out on my driver side and cold on the passanger side. Iv set the Temp on both side to 60 and nothing changes it

Sounds as if the door actuator has quit working on the driver's side. this is a very difficult unit to access and should be done with courage or by an expert "groan" dealer.

00/01 Pontiac Bonneville. How do we get off the steering wheel?

Get a repair manual such as Haynes or Chiltons at a auto parts store to walk you through. Once you get the horn button off you will need a steering wheel puller. They sell them too.
I hope my suggestions helps and all the luck to you.

A c works on passenger side but not drivers side

Low refrigerant level will cause this. If not there is a seperate motor for each side temp door and one may have failed

2000 Chevrolet Malibu LS airbag problems

The passenger side airbag is a lot easier then driver side. Take the glove box out and you will see two 10mm bolts holding it in place. When you open the passenger side front door, remove the panel on the side of the dash and you will see yellow connectors. The 1 closest to the front is attached to the air bag, it is clipped into the frame. Just pull it loose and take it out and your done. For the Driver side, it takes a skinny T27 to remove the two star bolts, then just disconnect the horn red clip and ground and install new airbag. The module is located under the passenger seat, underneath the carpet. Kinda stupid but thats where its at. You also need to replace the front impact sensor located behind the grille on the back side of the metal bar to each side. Follow the hood latch down. Also just to make sure, you know to disconnect the battery before you do all this. You don't want new airbags to accidentally deploy.

How do you remove the driver side airbag for 2000 VW Cabrio?

You need an airbag removal/release tool. Buy it on ebay $15-17. Worth of buying it (dealer charges $280) to take off and install it back. Do not use any screwdrivers or similar tools. With a screw driver you will spend precious hours without any result. With the tool only 5 sec. There are two slots on the back of the steering wheel. Disconnect the battery (you will loose your radio code though) While the slot is on the top insert the tool in the slot tillted down (handle up), using your imagination or best tacktile feelings find the wire spring with the grove of the tool and change the angle of the tool by pressing down on the handle, this will release the spring and one side of the bag will pop out. Turn the wheel 180 degrees make sure the other slot is on top now, repeat the procedure with the other spring. The depth of the tool insertion varies, try to find the deepest possible insertion first and back out just a little bit until you feel that you caught that wire. That wire itself is the metal slot. By inserting the tool in the back of the airbag you can't hurt anything there. Everything is designed to withstand an unexperienced intruders. When the other side of the airbag pops out disconnect the airbag: have someone who knows how to disconnect the airbag plugs.

Replacing rack and pinion - 95 bonneville

remove battery at least 15 mins or more before starting work. mark steering rod to st/rack and remove bolt. remove two subframe bolts at rear and lower the frame thus creating space to work. remove st/ rod. lock steering from turning. very important as not have airbag problems. remove tierod ends from knuckls. remove hoses from rack and mounting bolts . remove rack assembley from drivers side. you should replace as a long rack ie. rack with new inner tie rods already fitted. reverse order for fitting. pay attention as not catch rod bellows thus tearing them. use new seals on hoses. make sure to flush system of any debri. use new p/s fluid and after starting car turn steering from end to end to bleed system off air . time appox. 3.5 to 5.0 hrs.good luck
