Ok... there are a couple of things you can do. i must have miss typed on the cap, rotor . in the back of the motor where the plug wires conect that is the cap that is bolted to the distributor with two torques bits that i believe are t15 in size. there may lie your problem. the posts inside are made of aluminum and they get coroded and dont alow the proper spark. the other commen problem is the exhaust the catalitic converter becomes pluged up. something you can try is remove one of the oxigen sensors and try to start it up if it runs the cat needs replaced. the o2 sensor is a 7/8 nut to remove it. give it a try

I have a 1992 GMC Sonoma. I just changed the fuel pump and fuel filter and gas cap because every time I would drive it, the truck would stall out...it would not start back up for a couple hours after...

If you can start the vehicle with carburetor cleaner, then yes you have a fuel delivery problem. To check fuel delivery, remove fuel line from fuel rail or carburetor and turn key to on. With the hose pointed into a gas can, you should see fuel pumping out of the line. If you have a camshaft driven fuel pump, then you will have to turn the starter motor to get the pump to work. If fuel is getting to this point, and the vehicle started earlier on carb cleaner, then you have clogged injectors. this may not be fuel related at all.
Check for spark by putting a plug onto one of your wires and ground the metal end of the plug . try to turn engine over. Should see a bright blue spark. Weak orange colored spark, or no spark at all indicates issues with distributor or coil. When doing spark check, be sure to have cleaned up any fuel that may have oversprayed from earlier testing.
An old trick to clear debris is to have one person cover the air intake while the engine is cranked by another person. Then quickly removing the hand that is covering the intake. 5 or 6 of those might clear out the trash.
If you have fuel, and you have spark, then timing may be a problem. get back with me and let me know what you find.

I have a 1994 GMC Sonoma 4.3L Votec we have installed new fuel pump ran for a couple of weeks. Now it wont start we have spark but still not starting?

If the filter is not seated on the new fuel pump properly or has fallen off after installation it will ruin the pump immediately. I have seen many people do this. It is a very common problem when changing the fuel pump.

I have a 2001 GMC Sonoma 4.3L that stalled while driving. Will turn over but wont start. Have spark, new battery, and the back spark plugs are dry. No error codes. Has fuel to manifold.

SOUND LIKE FUEL PUMP BAD. CHECK FUEL PUMP RELAY AND FUSE.MAKE SURE YOUR ENGINE IS NOT OVERHEATING.SCAN IT FOR IDLE SPEED CONTROL AND ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR FAULTS.

99 gmc jimmy, been running okay till a few days ago. Drove it to eat, came back out and it won't start. Battery okay. Tries to turn over, but won't. Acts like out of gas, but half a tank.

Listen for the fuel pump prime cycle.
Have someone listen back by the gas tank....turn the key after it has been off for at least 10 seconds to run position....you should hear a WHIRRRR for about a second or 2.
If it is silent....you may need a fuel pump.
Next give it a shot of starter fluid...if it starts on that...you indeed have a fuel problem. No start....no spark.
If no start and you did hear a pump cycle....then it's most likely a no spark problem.......a common cause is the crank sensor and/or ignition module.

1994 GMC Sonoma 2.2L will not start after sarter install

Check the plug in for the crank sensor and the plugs on the ignition module and coil. All of these are real close to the starter. Also did you hook up any ground wires attached near the starter.

99 GMC sonoma will start with starting fluid then

The 99 GMC, when it acts up, check whether it has fuel and/or spark. It could be related to fuel pressure, available electrical power, ignition component/s.

sounds like it could be plugged injectors or a timing problem.
