Hello, I have a 2003 tundra v8 access cab and just recently while driving my engine will just shut off leaving me w/ no steering and no brakes. It scared the hell out of me while coming off an on ramp and engine stopped and left me in a panic. It only happens a few times a week but is getting to be risky to drive while having a new born w/ me frequently. I just did have water pump, timing belt, plugs, fuel filter, thermostat, replaced for routine Toyota maintaince. HELP PLEASE I'M OUT OF IDEAS AND COULD USE ANY TIPS OR SUGGESTIONS !
I would look into having the Idle Air Control Valve looked at. You note that the truck has had some work done as well which may include the removal of vacuum lines to the intake manifold. I would look for some loose ends or broken hoses.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

an 03 has a gen 2 OBD that stores faults (not all faults trip the ck engine light) i would start there by doing a download (all faults)with a code ck'er , could be something as simple as an idle adjustemnt or maybe a vac line got broken/left off when doing the plugs/wire change , happens!!!
stalls when driving, engines don't turn off they stall or run, or misfire. engines are self sustaining, they are not like an electric motor that turns on. just to be clear. If you do say turns off,. this means to a tech, that you lost 12v power at the ignition, and EFI system. 12v power is/was lost. this is not what is happening,
stalls: try a tuneup. (top of list for 100 years now) if it stalls only when driving. then say if your smart right foot can save the stall.? can you, and is it very easy? if easy, the ISC may be bad. (dirty, etc) stalling can be simple or very complex. (Ask an ASE tech )
1:never ever tuned up, total disregard to the 60k miles service page in the glove box. op guide. aka; as the Service Schedule.
2: The EGR valve, is leaking. if it has one. no country stated. 3: bad idle controller , iSC. 4: air leaks in all MPI engine with MAF sensor will love to stall. 5: running rich, causing gross spark plug fouling and stalls. 6: gross lean fuel mix. (we call that bogging)
eg: I was driving , the engine bogged(lost power) i could not save it with fast right foot and the engine stalled. or i stalled just as i reached a traffic stop,. elaborate please.
Check all your fuses. Some models have a fuse for this, and if that checks out then you either have a computer problem or instrument cluster problem which you should get diagnosed professionally before proceeding.
have the vehicle scanned for error codes at autozone, its free. Post codes for more help....These engines have issues with the COPs (ignition coils-over-plugs) failing prior to 80k miles. When they fail typical problems are: Sputtering under load/acceleration, rough idle, random misfires, random stalling, light or heavy jerking under load (usually at 15-35mph and 45-65mph)..hopefully this helps!!
You shouldn't hear the fan too much while in the car. It won't start to run until certain conditions are meet. Try leaving the A/C Off or put it on Auto and hit the A/C buttom off. I don't know how hot, the ambient air temp is, where you are.
Your not talking HAVC Blower inside are you?
I have a 2004 V8 and the radiator fan is quiet
