Get new straps. Drain gas tank if possible, prop up gas tank from underneath, remove old straps, install new straps.

SOURCE: I have a 1986 Ford

I've had this problem twice (2 different trucks). Both times it turned out to be a bad ground in the engine compartment. Look for a loose/broken wire near the battery. If you find one that doesn't have a home, ground it to the negative battery terminal and see if that fixes your problem. (The wire that I'm referring to serves as a ground for the fuel system, and the pump won't run if it's disconnected. If the wire isn't secured somewhere away from the fan, the fan can catch it and break it.)

Hope this helps.

Where is the fuel pump located on a 1990 ford econoline van

Inside the gas tank. you have to unbolt the two straps holding your tank in place, remove all hoses and wires. pull the tank out from under the van, unbolt the sending unit (normally by blots, or lockring) and pull entire sending unit out. the pump is attached to the sending unit.

The only way, and not that bad of a job to do, is you will have to remove fuel tank, held on with two straps, remove fuel line's, remove lock ring from fuel pump.Depens on how much gas is in fuel tank, might need to used a jack to lower fuel tank.

if you are sure the filler tube going to the tank is not leaking you would have to remove the tank to see whats going on=gas fumes extreely tricky you will hear a kind of woshing sound before the explosion.if you cant be very careful or dont have a good knowledge of this kind of repair take it to a repair shop.
