Question about 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 Truck

2001 Dodge Ram 5.9 looses power/misses

My 2001 ram 1500 seem to loose some power and missfire when given alot of gas, or on an uphill. I replaced the plugs, but that didnt solve the problem. Also the check engine light is always on. Mechanic said it was a tranny problem. He "freshenned it up" and it was off for a few days but now stays on.

This is gonna sound Dumb But, Replace your Gas Cap. It sounds like the Seal is out on the Cap causing Air to leak into the Tank, Causing your Rough Idle.

I have a dodge ram 1500 year of module is 2002 and the check engine light keeps comming on what could this mean?

I had the same problem with this truck as well. If the gas cap is loose it can cause the check engine light to turn on. Try tightening the cap well each time you fill up. If this does not help you may want to try replacing the gas cap. Hope this was helpful.

Do the taillights work? If so it might just be the bulb. If not then the wiring is broke some where or loose.

Engine Vibration

Low octane gas and a missfire could caused the knock sensor to send a signal to the computer which retarded the timing and caused you to loose power. When you killed and restarted it, it recovered. Maybe some new plugs are needed.
