Question about 2006 Pontiac G6

2 Answers

Wheel Bearing? Hi. I have a 2005 Pontiac G6. Recently there is a noise coming from the front end of the car, I think its coming from the front tire area. The best way I can describe it is like a humming, almost like I have agressive tires on the car that "hum" on the road. As I drive faster the hum gets louder and it starts around 20km/h. What could this be? wheel bearings? The car is a lease and I'm handing it back in 2 months. Is it ok to leave this? Or could it be major repairs or dangerous to leave? Thanks Sean

You need to get it fixed or the front wheel whichever one it is can fold in on you.

i have a 2005 g6 and there is a humming noise coming from the front end....i just changed the drivers side wheel bearing and the noise is still there...i don't have the original factory tires(didn't hear it when they were on)so it could be the tire issue...an annoying humming noise1

That is the Bearings. You should probably take it in and get a Replacement Vehicle so that they can Repair this. The longer you run it like that the More of the Spindle it will eat away.

Wheel bearing? If you turn left and it gets louder. It is the right wheel bearing. And vice versa.

Humming noise coming from front end. It starts about 20 mph and the pitch gets higher as speed is increased?

More than likely it may be a wheel bearing, if the sound gets louder. Jackup the side where you think the sound is coming from, and spin the wheel to see. You can jack up one tire and get in vehicle put foot on brake start engine then put it in drive with foot on brake, release brake slowly. Wheel will spin and you can tell if thats the one.( put E-brake on first ) Let down and do the same on the other side to check it. As long as one wheel is on the ground the car will not move. Then you can tell if its a wheel bearing or not. God-Bless you and your family!

I have a 2005 gmc sierra 1500 what would cause a roaring sound coming from my truck?

Hi. the noise is likely because you now have tires with a more aggressive tread. The bumpier the tire, the more noise you will hear. Had the same issue with my Sierra.

My 2006 pontiac g6 is making a "roaring" like noise- like i have big monster truck tires on it.

If it only does it while driving, have the front wheel bearing check out.

Roaring sound in front wheel pontiac g6 2005

If it is heard all the time it will most likely be a bad wheel bearing. If it is just when braking it will be brake related like worn brake pads and/or rotor.

Road noise / front end vibration

The noise you're hearing is consistent with a bad wheel bearing. It's true, the only way to actually tell is to pull the hub/bearing. I'd try to isolate what side of the car the noise is coming from and pull that wheel. If it's not a wheel bearing, it could be transmission related but these things are usually solved by replacing the wheel bearing.

Sounds like a wheel bearing going, or gone. Possible tire/alignment, but more than likely, wheel bearing. You going to fix, or have it fixed?
