My windows all the sudden won't roll down

Look for broken wires in the driver's door opening. Peel back the rubber boot on the wiring harness there, with the door open, and check the wires. The power wire and the ground wire for the windows are in that group of wires, going to the master control switch on the driver's door. If you can get the master switch out without taking off the inner door panel-which you may have to do to get to the master switch controls-then you could check for power and ground at the switch connector with a test light or voltmeter.

The first thing people do when their windows quit is to try a new or used master switch. If you don't have a tester, you could try that, but about 75% of the time, it is not the problem. I heard from a salvager when I was looking for a used one, that it was more like 90% of the time. Sure enough, half or more of his cars were missing the master switch.
There may be a fuse to check, but usually the power windows use a circuit breaker rather than a fuse. It should be under the dash in a fuse panel.

Power windows got rained on won't go up

Here are some things to check, is the problem in the master switch (the drivers door switch that can control all windows.) or check each door window switch for operation. check fuses. most likely if a switch shorted because of moisture it may have blown a fuse. Here's a long shot.... if the fuses are good, try a small amount of WD40 into the switch in question. ( wd40 does not conduct electricity and will wash out the moisture if any.) The next cheapest thing is to replace the switches, very easy to do. The master switch will be the most expensive one, since it has a control for all the windows.
I have had to replace 2 switches on my "04" dodge ram, the master switch that controls all windows, door locks, and power mirrors ($140.00), and a passenger side window switch, ($26.00).
I hope this helps, please let me know.

Grounding problem with my power window motor on a 1997 chevy camero

Test the MASTER switch at the drivers side. It seems to be a "wiring problem with the Master switch. The master switch is the switch that controls ALL the cars windows.

The passenger window switch gets both power and ground from the master switch. You have replaced the passenger side switch and it still had the same result and if the wiring is good from the master switch to the passenger side switch, then the only thing left would be the power window master switch. Check all wiring of the Master switch. That's the only thing that's left to do.

Back windows wont roll down

i first check to see if you have a master power control switch at the driver side switches. If so, is it set to block? Also try pressing on and off a few times( maybe bad /corroded contacts inside the switch} . try the switch at each window{replace as necessary} there will be CIRCUIT BREAKERS not fuses you can check, also maybe window relays ,BURNT wiring, bad main switch,{master window} the last thing i would check is the motors themselves, doubt they would both be burned out!!! Passenger side automatic window switch is not working in my 2004 Chevy Aveo. The window is operational from the driver's side master switch but not the passenger side. Im thinking its a fuse or a relay,...

Make sure the window lockout button is not depressed on the master window switch. This will turn off the other switches and not let them control there respective windows.

Power is supplied to all the windows from one fuse and one relay. So if the master switch operates the window than we know the fuses and relays are o.k. We know the master switch will operate the window so that tells us the window motor and ground side of the passenger window motor circuit are also good.

Which leaves us with a bad switch or no power to the switch. The passenger window switch gets its power to operate independently from the master switch window lockout button. When the button is off power is supplied to the passenger switch and allows the passenger to operate the window themselves.

The only thing you need to do is check for power at the passenger switch on the brown wire with orange stripe. If there is power there then you have a bad switch.

Rear side windows

This may be just a case of inadvertently hitting the window lock out n th driver door window switch by mistake. Check that first. Here's some background on window operation

Principles of Operation
The driver power window regulator motor is controlled directly by the master window/door lock/unlock switch (and its integrated "auto down" module). Power is supplied to the power window relay and the master window/door lock/unlock switch, and the passenger power window switch when the SEC/timer module grounds the coil side of the power window relay. The SEC/timer module will ground this relay when the ignition is in the ON position and will remain energized for approximately 15 minutes or until the driver or passenger door is opened.
The driver power window regulator motor is a reversible motor that is operated by applying power and ground to the motor leads to lower the window, and then reversing polarity on those leads to raise the window.
The passenger power window regulator motor is controlled directly by the passenger power window switch and can also be controlled by the master window/door lock/unlock switch.
The passenger power window regulator motor is a reversible motor, which is operated by applying power and ground to the motor leads to lower the window, and then reversing polarity on those leads to raise the window.
The power rear quarter glass is also directly controlled by the master window/door lock/unlock switch. The power rear quarter glass power latches also utilize reversible motors. The power rear quarter glass power latches are operated by applying power and ground to the motor leads to open the window, and then reversing polarity on those same leads to close the window.
