Question about 1997 Nissan.5 Altima

Won't start, but does crank over

After sitting for four days, tried starting this 1997 Alti. It turned over and I thought it had started - so released the key (BTW this is a standard tranny). Unfortunately, it hadn't caught, so I tried again and just get this weird starter sound, like the bendix was stuck but not engaged. Replaced the starter - no luck. Still makes the same sound.
What do ya' think?

You may have a bad FLYWHEL(teeth on flywheel is damaged) PUSH START this vehicle and then see what happens.( This will move fly wheel from bad spot) This is how you do it just in case you don't know.(you will need help to push) Put vehicle in neutral turn ignition ON (with dash lights ON in dash). Sit in car have help to push car when vehicle starts to roll at steady pace push down on clutch put in first gear and then release the clutch in a sharp motion vehicle will start and start to drive. Stop as usual and let it run for a while and then try to start with key when you turn off. Good Luck and contact if you need more help. thanks for using FIX YA

HARD TO START

To clarify, the engine cranks and starts. If it cranks but won't start until 4 or 5 tries, I would check the fuel pressure before and after the first attempt. The check valve in the pump may be faulty and allowing the fuel to flow back to the tank when it is not running. The pump only gets power for the first 3 seconds during crank time until the engine starts.

1990 Toyota Corrolla Wont Start

To clarify, if it cranks but won't start, the starter is doing its job.
If it cranks but won't start, you'll need to figure out if it is a fuel or ignition problem to proceed.
You can have someone check the fuel line for pressure and spark at the plugs.

Ran out of gas on a 1997 gmc jimmy and 4 days later it just cut off and than it won,t crank I let it sit for a minute and than it crank but it happen again. What to do?

Cranking and fuel issues are two separate things. Check age of battery and voltage across terminals. Does it always crank as long as you hold the key but not start? If cranking okey, check fuel pressure, key -on,cranking,or if it does start. Check battery cables for corrosion, also inside cables. Do,a voltage drop test on both cables.. Need a meter or just have a shop pick it up and take care of it.

My 1997 Dodge Avenger's engine won't start

Try cam and/or crank sensor. If crank to cam timing isn't detected properly it'll crank all day but won't start. I had similar problem on my 2.5L V6 Avenger....drove home fine, no engine light, next morning it cranked, but wouldn't start. The crank sensor was faulty.

1996 cavalier will not crank

when it wont crank, you will need a test lite to ck the small wire at starter for a 12 volt signal when commanded to start by the key. also make sure there is 12 volts from battery going to larger wire on starter. if so and still wont crank, starter replacement is probable. (assuming grounds are clean) they can be very intermittent. another quick test would be while trying to start, holding key in start position, rap lightly on starter with hammer to see if it kicks, if so, replace starter.
