When opening, driver door no longer stops at second resting point but opens at approx 90 degrees such that edge of front guard is now denting outside door panel about 2 inches in from front edge. The check strap (horizontal lever near top of door and 3 inches below upper hinge) is no longer connected to any anchor point inside the door. Is it possible to access inner door, by removing inside door panel and replace check strap / anchor point without having to take car to a Peugeot dealer and pay expensive workshop fees?

Found a blown 5A fuse in the fusebox under the right side of the steering wheel (near driver-side door). Replaced this, and all symptoms appear to have gone... question is, what caused the fuse to blow in the first place?
