Question about 2004 Chevrolet TrailBlazer

2004 trailblazer changed alternator and when i turned on heat it started losing power lights flicker and now it seems to be running hot after a couple of mins of running and no service engine light or coolant light is on what could this be please help

I'll try, sure its the right alternator? belt on tight ? did you do something different , are all connections correct, tight, not connected ? when you changed the alt, did you remove the ground cable from the battery first ? may have shorted something out. check your belt tension, maybe thats it. try all this first, you might need prfessional help

most ecu controlled vehicles have a 'limp home'mode if 2 or more fault codes are stored,it is designed to get your attention before damage is caused and to get you to the nearest to fix,i would have codes cleared and retest vehicle,it is the cheapest and 1st option for any shop,some late models even have excessive mileage past service interval in the 'limp' program

You need to get the fault codes read to determine where the problem is that set the SES light. Autozone will scan your car at no charge. At some point you will need to get a mechanic involved to further diagnose the codes.

You may have damaged the ECM with a power surge from shorting out the alternator. Try to reset the CPU program using a code reader and look for fault codes while you are at it

2004 trailblazer is running like **** blower on defrost makes car wanna stall out and lights flicker what could this be

You would need to know for sure that the radiator is full and that the serpentine belt is not slipping.
The water pump could have died and that could affect the belt and the alternator.

Headlights flicker

this seems most likely a loose connection corrosion or bad connection at one of your fuses or the battery.
start at your battery and check the cables are ok, expecially the Black earth, maybe the connection to the chassis is loose or corroded, ensure this connection is clean. check the connection to the battery is clean and tight. then check the fuse box only do this when the vehicle is swiced off, and spray some contact spray into the fuses a little on each fuse this may resolve the problem.

You need to check the plug that goes into the alternator to see if it's tight fitting next the brushes inside the alternator have a wear indicator that is a hole in the center it is also used to set them in place with a pin that could be the flickering cause the brushes are solid till they get to the opening so when the alternator is running there's always a break in contact because of the hole so it makes and breaks contact causing the flickering and the charging level is ok but when a lot of accessories are on it can't keep up the charging voltages so the battery gradually goes dead losing power also another spot to look is the power distribution box cable it co u ld be loose and dirty and corroded

I am having the same problem with my 2004 Elantra. I have had the alternator tested twice and did replace the battery. This morning I had it running ad put a volt meter on it ( red to the battery pos black to the engine block) I did get a reading of 14 volts for about 30 seconds then the idle lowered and the voltage dropped to 12 volts. I tried this again later but could not get a voltage reading above 12 volts with the motor running. Any suggestions?

sounds like originally your alternator is over charging causing dash lights to come on and flicker while driving then battery is flat(low) causing problem when starting
jump start engine, check alternator charge rate, and get battery recharged and then checked(load tested)
