SOURCE: Transmission fluid/filter change in 2000 Honda Odyssey

I would not recommend using Dexron III. Honda Odysseys are prone to transmission problems. A drain and fill with Genuine Honda Fluid is Recommended. The drain plug can be removed with a 3/8 ratchet at the bottom of the trans. The fill hole is at the top of the trans. You remove it with a socket on a long extension. The capacity is close to 3 quarts

SOURCE: oil filter in civic 97

If you go to a reputable motor factor,
you can only be sold the correct filter for the civic.
As there are soo many variables in engine type, it's almost impossible to tell, oil volume, or which type filter.
However, I will say, be sure that you don't mix semi-synthetic oil, and mineral oil.
Oil changes should be undertaken every 30,000 miles, (unless under extra work load, (in which case, slightly more regularly))

Otherwise, 10/40 or 15/40 grade oil, is perfectly fine.
The trick to not overfilling the oil, is simply just to take your time, clean the dip stick and retry, until you have the correct reading.

it is the same as changing oil in your car ..you will need to jack up the side where the trans drain plug is located so you can take a filter wrench and change the filter ,,,easy job ,,just a little nasty and smelly

2002 honda civic doesn't excelerate when i push on the gas. could it be the fuel filter or fuel pump

Check if there is a lag in the needle of the tachometer when you step on the gas when in gear and when in idle. If there is no lag or anything unusual while the engine idles, it may be the transmission. It may be the clutch for manual transmission or the torque converter for the automatic or you may need to add or replace transmission fluids.

My car wont move forward or reverse

Chances are is that the torque converter needs to be replaced. However, the transmssion on this vehicle are only serviceable by transmision shops. No regular mechanic will open up the transmission. When the torque converter fails (clutch and plates shutters to small pieces) the debri flows in the transmision thereby potentially destroying the gears and/or clogging the filter and pump. Go straight to a reputable transmission shop and let them correctly diagnose the transmission.

Automatic transmission does not move

It sounds like the filter is plugged, but the only way to service the filter on honda is to remove the transmission and take it apart. I had a honda in my shop that the owner didn't want to spend that much. So I drained the transmission. Went through the drain hole and drilled a hole in the filter. Then I put an inline filter in the cooler line. He had the exact same problem you have. That was 4 years ago and he is still driving it.
