Question about 1998 Ford Escort
My puma has just started cutting out when i slow down or stop, it seems when the car goes below 1000 revs its just cuts out. what could be the problem... have had idle valve changed as garage thought it could be the problem but hasnt helped....
There are 2 things that can go wrong one cheap and the other around $100-200. The first problem could be the fuel filter if it is getting plugged up it wont allow the fuel to flow through to your engine sufficiently, but at faster speed it will still allow the fuel to flow enough. The other problem could be the fuel pump, this is the more expenive route. This will have the same effect on a car as the fuel filter. If I were you I would try replacing the fuel filter first to see if that made a change, this should only cost you around $5-20.
