SOURCE: my 2001 oldsmobile alero my heater blows cold no

The first thing that should be checked is the coolant level. All heat is passed into the engine compartment by the cooling system.

SOURCE: where is the block heater cord on my 91 oldsmobile

will be around battery harness or through lower grill driverside here is install instructions hope this helps you find it the car never came with a block heater if you have one it was installed aftermarket let me know if you need any more help

Removal & Installation

Factory block heaters are not installed on these models. If an aftermarket heater has been installed the following procedure will most likely work. There are two basic types, one for the oil and one for the coolant. The oil heater usually just slips into the dipstick tube or replaces the oil drain plug. The following procedure is for the coolant type.

  1. Remove the negative battery cable.
  2. Drain the cooling system.

CAUTION

When draining the coolant, keep in mind that cats and dogs are attracted by ethylene glycol antifreeze, and are quite likely to drink any that is left in an uncovered container or in puddles on the ground. This will prove fatal in sufficient quantity. Always drain the coolant into a sealable container. Coolant should be reused unless it is contaminated or several years old.

  1. Remove the block heater in the same way as the freeze plugs. Some heater units have a bolt that must be loosened or a V-Clamp that must be removed to remove the heating element.
  2. Disconnect the heater connector and remove the heater element.

To install:

  1. Coat the new heater with sealant, then install the reverse order of removal.
  2. Fill the engine with coolant, connect the battery cable. Start engine and check for leaks

A little heat is coming out of the vents in my 2001 oldsmobile alero but its not blowing out

Could be a problem with the blower motor, or a blend door.
The blend doors direct air thru the heater core and out thru the vents.
Someone would need to remove the blower motor and check it.

Radiator

several possibilities here, is there enough water in the engine radiator?, is the heater valve opening? possibly the heater matrix is blocked, try to remove the pipes to it and insert a hose pipe into one of the pipes, water shoulfd flow through easily.

Coolant leak on olds alero 2000

Engines are designed with frost plugs that are designed to blow out if the coolant jacket should become frozen. Look carefully using a light and a mirror (ladys compact works well) Following the block heater cord to the engine will help locate these plugs. You may find the block heater has blown loose as it is installed in one of the frost plug holes. Best of luck.
