There really is no short need to replace the half-axle on the right side (will get both inner and outer CV joints). Is driveable with noise, but may eventually fall apart.

I would still suspect the drive axle because it could very well be the inner joint of the axle clicking and not making the accustomed noises related to a drive shaft noise. Thanks Megabuck

Clicking noise down by the front tires.

check your axles, for an open cv boot, this clicking is on straigth or turning, if turming to your rigth you hear noise to be louder on your left then your left axle is bad, do the same to your left and if noise exists then your rigth axle is bad.good luck

When I turn corners in my 03 aviator it makes a loud clicking noise rather I turn left or right. What can it be?

axle CV joints. Check 4 boots for tears. Also grab shafts and tug--check for play in joints. Replace axles that have play in CV joints. Let us know if you need instructions.

When i make a u turn it makes a clik

usually caused by worn CV joints. Check axle boots for tears. When a boot tears, dirt gets in and causes the CV joint to wear out. You can also test by pulling the axle to see if there is play in the joint. If there is play or a torn boot, replace the joint or the entire axle. OK?

I need to know the exact width of a 1983 cj7 from

You will need more than just the length of the housings to do that. you need to know the distance from spring perch to spring perch, distance from perch to backing plate on each side and the offset of the center section, so that when mounted, the driveshafts are not running at an angle. You also need to find the pinion angle at rest: (the amount of upward or downward pitch of the pinion)
In making these measurements you can avoid the possibility of having one axle protruding further past the springs, or damaging universal joints by having them run at an angle that isn't correct.
You can find lots of info on swaps at several online jeep forums. Many of the people there have done swaps and have taken those measurements and have the info you need to do it correctly.
If you have access to a welder, cutting tools and jigs, that opens up numerous possibilities as any differential can be used in any vehicle if it is properly prepared before install!! Just offhand, i don't think that the wagoneer units will fit because it is much wider than a cj. Try jeepforums .com for swap info.
good luck

My cv joints (HYUNDAI ACCENT 1995) need replacing just wanting to know how to replace them myself. Thanks

Remove the wheel. Take off the hub nut. unbolt the ball-joint. Pull the axle from the spindle. Pry the axle from the transmission.

left front drive axle. Your next oil change have the tech rack up your vehicle and have them look at the axles to see if the boot is open and dry. 1000% sure its the axle.

94 Geo Prizm CV or driveaxle?

on this type of vehichle, you have two axles in the front; one going to each side. Chances are that the boot at the axle joint was torn and that is why you are having problem. In teh past people used to replace the boot, this day and age its actually cheaper to replace the axle. So you would need to replace that side of the axle (the half shaft).
