Courtesy beeping goes off continually

When you turn off the ignition and open a door the courtesy signal beeps continually. The lights are off I am not sure why it is doing this. Also as a result the lights do not blink when you activate the alarm

SOURCE: Mazda 1999 2500 pick up- courtesy light problem

A:

Shoot a bunch of WD40 into the keyway (both doors), let soak, come back in five minues. Put your doom light bulbs back in and test. In case that doesn't work, take your doom light bulbs out forever. The light activator is deep inside the door (some magent thing is as close as I ever came to an answer?), good luck w/ finding it. I took the entire door panel off to replace a driver's side mirror and couldn't find it with two hands, a flashlight and a Chilton's manuel.

Q:
How do I get my check engine light off? I changed both parts on both codes from three different AutoZones. The EGR valve and EGR value sensor and a new hose from the manifold to the catalytic converter. Only thing I can think is to look for a vacuum leak, change the oil, rotate the tires, get new struts and shocks, a front end alignment, get my heat shield welded back into place, get a full tune up, change the transmission fluid, and two new oxygen sensors and these should hold her for quite a while. Rear brakes don't seem to be grabbing correctly, it feels uneven. Anti-lock brakes don't come on. I also replaced the speedsensor this time last year. And need a new windshield. How much will all this cost?

2009g6 dome light comes on all by its self why

The dome lamp switch has 3 positions: DOOR, OFF, and ON. When in the DOOR position, the dome lamp operation is controlled by the body control module (BCM).The ON position provides a ground for continuous operation. Ground is provided at G302. The OFF position turns OFF any dome lamp operation. The courtesy lamps, may be manually turned ON by placing the instrument panel (I/P) dimmer switch in the DOME position. When the dome lamp switch is in the DOOR position, the dome lamp will illuminate when a door is opened. When a door is opened, the courtesy lamps turn ON. After all the doors have been closed, the courtesy lamps will remain illuminated approximately 10 seconds after the last door closes. When the driver places the dome lamp switch in the OFF position, the dome lamp will be disabled.

Do you hear any chimes when the light comes on ? Door ajar switch problem , maybe . Picture of car with door open light lit on the instrument cluster ? When does it come on , when driving or sitting still or both ?

You mite want to take it to a qualified repair shop and have it checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes .
DTC B2555 05: Passenger Compartment Lamp Control Circuit Short to Battery or Open
The body control module (BCM) applies battery voltage to the courtesy lamps through the courtesy lamps high control circuit. When any door is opened, the door ajar switch contacts close and the BCM receives a door-open input. If the BCM receives a door lock or unlock input or a rear hatch open input, the BCM will activate the courtesy lamp high control circuit, providing battery voltage to all of the dome lamps, reading lamps, rear compartment lamp, and vanity mirror lamps. In the event that any of these lamps were to remain illuminated for more than 20 minutes with the ignition switch in the OFF position, the BCM will deactivate the courtesy lamp high control circuit to prevent a total battery discharge condition.

Do you know how to do basic automotive electrical testing ? How to test inputs and outputs of a control module ? in this case the BCM - body control module ? Find wiring diagrams at

I have a 2007 Buick Lucerne and the front reading lamps won't turn off.

Overhead Console Lamp and Roof Rail Courtesy/Reading Lamps
The courtesy/reading lamp is a duel purpose lamp that can be illuminated two different ways. First, the lamp can be turned ON during courtesy lamp operation as described above. Second, the lamps can be turned ON individually for reading lamp operation by the lamp switch. The BCM supplies battery voltage from the INT LAMPS fuse through the inadvertent power courtesy lamps circuit to the courtesy/reading lamps for reading lamp operation only. Ground for the courtesy lamp module or the roof/rail reading lamps is provided at G402

Courtesy Lamps
When either one of the front doors is opened, ground is applied through the door latch door open switch and the door open switch signal circuit to the door module indicting the door open position. In response to this signal, the door module sends a GMLAN serial data message to the BCM of the door open position. Or, when either one of the rear doors is opened, ground is applied through the door latch door open switch and the rear door open switch signal circuit to the BCM is indicating the rear door open position. Once a door open message or signal received, the BCM will then apply battery voltage from the CTSY/RF TRN fuse through the courtesy lamp supply voltage circuits illuminating the lamps listed below:
• Overhead console lamp
• Roof rail courtesy lamps
• Footwell courtesy lamps The BCM receives battery voltage from the INT LAMPS fuse in order to supply power to the inadvertent courtesy lamps. Inadvertent power courtesy lamp feature provides a similar function for the interior lamps as a retained accessory power feature. The BCM will energize the courtesy lamps supply voltage circuit when the BCM is in the active state (awake). When the inadvertent power courtesy lamps supply voltage circuit is energized, it supplies voltage to all the interior lights listed below. The BCM will continue to supply voltage to the interior lamps after the ignition is turned OFF so that the interior lamps may be operated.
• Overhead Console Reading Lamps
• Roof Rail Reading Lamps
• Vanity Mirror Lamps
• I/P Compartment Lamp
• Rear Compartment Courtesy Lamp
In the event that any of these lamps were to remain illuminated for a period of more than 20 minutes with the ignition switch in the OFF position and no BCM input activity, the BCM will deactivate the inadvertent power supply voltage circuit to prevent a total battery discharge condition. The BCM receives battery voltage from the CTSY/RF TRN fuse in order to supply power to the courtesy lamps. The BCM applies this voltage to the courtesy lamps through the courtesy lamp supply voltage circuits. When any door is opened, the door open switch contacts close and the BCM receives a door-open signal. If the BCM receives a door lock or unlock signal, the BCM will activate the courtesy lamp supply voltage circuit, providing battery voltage to the dome lamps and the left and right footwell courtesy lamps. The courtesy lamps can be manually activated by placing the interior lamp switch in the DOME position. For more detailed information concerning courtesy lamp operation refer to Interior Lighting Systems Description and Operation.

My interior light won't come on in my 1999 Buick Lesabre. I have checked the bulb & the fuse. Can anyone help me with this problem? Any ideas are sincerely appreciated.

Courtesy Lights
The courtesy lights come on under the following conditions:
?€¢
Any door is opened.

?€¢
The interior lamp switch is in the ON position.

?€¢
The keyless entry transmitter unlocks the doors (illuminated entry).

When the key is removed from the ignition switch with all of the doors closed, the courtesy lights light for approximately 25 seconds before fading out.
Battery positive voltage (B+) is applied at all times through the IP fuse block CTSY LP/PWR MIR fuse 6A via CKT 640 (ORN) through the body control module (MALL) to the courtesy lights via CKT 1732 (ORN). The MALL provides a ground through CKT 156 (WHT) for the courtesy lights under the following conditions:
?€¢
The MALL receives an input from a door being opened.

?€¢
The MALL receives an input from the interior lamp being turned ON.

?€¢
The MALL receives an input from the doors being unlocked using the keyless entry transmitter.

The courtesy lamps then light.
When the courtesy lights are activated by opening and closing a door, the courtesy lights will remain on for approximately 25 seconds before fading out after all of the doors are closed. If the ignition switch is turned to START or RUN within the 25 seconds, the lights immediately begin to fade out. If a door is left open, the MALL removes battery positive voltage (B+) to the courtesy lights after 10 minutes. When the courtesy lights are activated by the interior lamp switch, the lights remain on as long as the interior lamp switch is in the ON position. When the courtesy lights are activated by unlocking the doors using the keyless entry transmitter, the lights remain on for approximately 40 seconds. If the doors are locked using the keyless entry transmitter within the 40 seconds, the lights immediately begin to fade out.
Body Control Module (MALL) Diagnostic Mode
For a detailed explanation of the MALL module diagnostic mode, refer to Body Control Module Cell 51.
What interior light ? Dome , courtesy lights etc....They don't work with switch, keyless entry , door opening ?

Interior lights not working

You mite have a DTC - diagnostic trouble code stored in the BCM - body control module , The BCM controls the interior lights ! Have you heard of a BCM ?
DTC B2615
The body control module (BCM) receives a ground signal from the door jamb, liftglass/liftgate, or courtesy lamp switches requesting courtesy/dome lamp illumination. When this occurs, the BCM directly sends a voltage through the courtesy lamp supply voltage circuit illuminating the courtesy/dome lamps.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
?€¢
When the BCM receives a courtesy lamp illumination request signal and the courtesy lamp supply voltage circuit is shorted to ground.

?€¢
When the BCM is not receiving a courtesy lamp illumination request signal and the courtesy lamp supply voltage circuit is shorted to voltage or open only to the first splice from the BCM.

?€¢
There is a loss of the rear fuse block TBC 3 battery supply voltage to the BCM for more than 1 second

Diagnostic Aids
?€¢
Perform a visual inspection for loose or poor connections at all related components. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems.

?€¢
Only an open circuit up to the first splice from the BCM will set DTC B2615.

DTC B3801
The body control module (BCM) monitors the courtesy lamp switch signal circuit in order to determine when the courtesy/dome lamps should be illuminated. When the BCM senses that the courtesy lamp switch signal circuit is grounded when the switch is activated, the BCM will directly illuminate the courtesy/dome lamps. Do you know what a scan tool is ? not a code reader !

Interior lights

This is both a courtesy and safety issue on many high end vehicles. The light from the interior lights can cast enough light to get to front door and possibly show dangers in your path. And after first getting into you car and starting it, you can check the back seat for any unwanted hitchhikers. As for the 10 minute timer, I don't know if this can be adjusted. A Chiltons/Haynes repair manual for you car may have that answer, or, the Buick dealership shop foreman. Best of luck.

2004 yukon slt courtesy light relay location

Here is a description of the courtesy lights , there is no relay ! Controlled by the BCM - body control module !
The courtesy/illuminated entry lamps, may be manually turned on or off by placing the interior lamp switch in the ON or OFF position. If an outside door handle is lifted or a door is opened, the courtesy/illuminated entry lamps illuminate. After all the doors have been closed the courtesy/illuminated entry lamps will remain illuminated approximately 15 seconds. The courtesy/illuminated entry lamps will also turn on prior to any door being opened, and remain illuminated approximately 40 seconds when the driver removes the ignition key. When the driver places the dome lamp defeat switch in the OFF position, the courtesy/illuminated entry lamps will be disabled.
The left and right front door courtesy lamps are controlled, and receive voltage and ground from the drivers door module (DDM) and the passenger door module (PDM) respectively. The body control module (BCM), DDM, and the PDM communicate through class 2 serial data for the lamp illumination commands and the door ajar switches.
The remaining courtesy lamps are controlled and receive voltage from the BCM. Voltage for the courtesy lamp supply voltage circuit and the backup lamp supply voltage circuit is from the TBC B fuse in the instrument panel fuse block directly through the BCM to these circuits. A short to ground on either of these circuits will open the fuse. Ground is provided to the footwell lamps and all courtesy/reading lamps at G203. Ground is provided to the right middle and right rear door at G306. Ground is provided to the left middle and left rear door at G302.

Lamps, Courtesy The interior courtesy lamps are controlled by the generic electronic module (GEM) and are activated by the interior lamp relay. The interior lamp relay coil is grounded by the GEM when:
  • a door is opened.
  • illuminated entry is requested from remote anti-theft personality module.
The courtesy lamps will turn off if:
  • ignition switch is turned to RUN.
  • illuminated entry off request is received from remote anti-theft personality module or after 25-seconds.

2000 chevy monte carlo door latch assy. replacement

all the lights above the dash do not work ?????? DOME light's ??? No light's come on when you open the door or any door ? Wouldn't think all the door ajar switches bad at one time .
Interior Lamps
The interior lamps consists of two groups, lamps that can not be dimmed and lamps that can be dimmed. This first group consists of lamps that may not be dimmed. This Includes those lamps that may be manually turned on by placing the interior lamp switch to the DOME position, or by opening a door or a compartment:
• Auxiliary dome lamp (SEO, RPO 6C7)
• Dome lamp
• instrument panel (I/P) compartment lamp
• Inside rear view mirror lamps
• I/P courtesy lamps
• Reading lamps
• Rear compartment courtesy lamp
• Sunshade vanity mirror lamps
Battery positive voltage is applied at all times to the DIC/RKE fuse and to the switched side of the BATT RUNDOWN PROTECTION relay in the right I/P junction block. The DIC/RKE fuse supplies battery positive voltage to the coil side of the BATT RUNDOWN PROTECTION relay. When the ignition is turned to the ON position, the body control module (BCM) provides a ground to the Inadvertent relay control circuit. This energizes the BATT RUNDOWN PROTECTION relay and applies battery positive voltage to I/P BRP fuse and to the TRK/ROOF/BRP fuse. Battery positive voltage is applied from the I/P BRP fuse to the I/P courtesy lamps, I/P compartment lamp and to the I/P compartment feed circuit to the BCM. Battery positive voltage is also applied from the TRK/ROOF/BRP fuse to the:

If the BCM receives a door lock or unlock input signal, the BCM will activate the BATT RUNDOWN PROTECTION relay, which provides battery positive voltage to all interior courtesy lamps. When any door is opened, the door jam switch contacts close and the BCM receives a door-open input signal. The BCM then applies a ground to the theater dimming ground control circuit illuminating the courtesy and dome lamps.
After all the doors are closed, the courtesy lamps remain illuminated for approximately 40 seconds. The courtesy lamps will also turn on and remain illuminated for approximately 15 seconds after the ignition key is removed, prior to any door being opened.
When the headlamp switch is placed in the DOME position, the BCM receives a ground signal. The BCM then applies a ground to the theater dimming ground control circuit. This illuminates the dome and roof rail lamps.
The courtesy lamps will normally turn off using the theater dimming feature. The BCM provides a pulse width modulated ground to all courtesy/reading, dome, and inside rear view mirror lamps for the theater dimming feature. The BCM will immediately turn off the courtesy lamps if a door lock command is received with all the doors closed, or if the ignition switch is turned to either the ON or RUN position.
The BCM activates the interior lighting output 15 seconds after receiving the class 2 message "Airbags Deployed" from the sensing and diagnostic module (SDM). The interior lamps remain activated for 25 minutes.

The door ajar switch is part of the lock actuator inside the door !
