Question about 2002 Nissan Maxima

1 Answer

Have a 1999 nissan max,I am somewhat mechanically inclined and have checked all the fuses.I checked one of the plugs an it does have fire.I pulled the line off the fuel filter and fuel did come out when i turn the key to the on position.I am not sure how strong it should be when it comes out but it did shoot out like a park or school question is can the fuel pump be weak or what causes the injectors to allow fuel to come through. This car will run off of ether.I got a brainbox from a junkyard and still the same thing.swithched the pressure regulator and checked the wiring to the crank position sensors and he camshaft sensor.where do I go from here.fuel pressure reading was 45 then dropped quickly.

That sounds like a smililar problem i had. If you pull the fuel line off of the fuel filter, gas should shoot across the parking lot. Not trickle out like a water fountain. My 99 maxima did the same thing and what I found the problem was, was that the fuel line on top of the fuel pump it's self inside the gas tank and blown off. Because nissan put a stupid squeeze clamp on it instead of a screw tight clamp. Pull your the top of your sending unit off and I guarentee you it's not connected to the fuel pump. What's happening it the engine is running off of suction from the gast tank which is why it's only comming out like a water fountain. reconnect the hose back to the fuel pump and put a screw clamp on it prime the system back up and it should start.

How can I tell if my 2007 maxima jumped time

It will sound very fast cranking with no start..or start and be miss firing badly as apposed to its normal cranking cycle..remove the # one spark plug and pull the number one piston to top dead center then check your position on your cam shaft or shafts(you may have to enter the model and motor size on YOU TUBE.COM) where the timing marks are supposed to be?..if you are not mechanically inclined I suggest having someone reputable be recommended..messing with zero tolerance motors can be catastrophic to the internal motor parts

If engine is turning over my first and cheapest Thought would be to change the fuel filter(assuming your not out of gas). If your somewhat mechanically inclined (or know someone who is) you can spray some starting fluid or splash a little gas into the carburetor and if the engine fires a little bit that will be it.
Fuel filter location 1999 dodge durango

It could be other things (fuel pump) but without additional info I say start there.

98 nissan pathfinder 3.0 wont start new distribitor no fire

What do you mean "the battery still no fire"?

Do you mean that there is no spark at the spark plug?
Have you pulled out a plug, grounded it and cranked the engine to check to see what colour (if any) the spark is?
If there is no spark at the plug, then either change the plugs if they look to be in very poor condition, or change the coil.

2000 chevy silverado v6 vortec engine, died driving, changed fuel pump, plugs wires, etc. and still wont start. ever heard of that

1st, check to see if the fuel pump runs for 3 seconds when you turn the key to run (not start). If it doesn't run, then check the fuel pump fuse & relay in fuse box under hood, if OK, (spray starting fluid in the intake to see if engine fires at all), if no fire then look towards the ignition as the problem. There are 5 things need to start an engine: 1. fuel (delivered & pressure), 2. air, 3. spark (distributor/ignition module or pickup coil), 4. rotation & timing, 5. compression. any of these that are wrong or not there, the engine fails.

Nissan maxima 1999 temprtr increase more than half ,when increase speed ( new ladator replaced also plugs) some times shutdown

The problem would be the radiator is somewhat already blocked. The coolant cannot flow freely to the radiator to the engine.
I would recommend that you bring your car to the nearest garage/radiator shop and have them replace or repair the said problem.Ask the mechanic also to check the thermostat valve, sometimes the valve is stuck up and did not open up freely and made the coolant passage too small for a proper circulation.
The temperature gone up during high speed means that coolant did not circulate properly!
Hope that solves your problem.
Thanks for asking FixYa!

My 99 nissan frontier blower speeds work on 1,2,3 but, not on 4 . Any solutions?

usually its the heater fan resistor that is bad. it controls the fan speeds for blower motor. The blower motor is mounted under the glove box. It is in the corner somewhat covered by the kick panel. The card, at least on my pathfinder, is held in with 2 phillips head screws. The plug has 4 wires, one large wire and 3 smaller wires. You should see it very near to and parallel with the firewall.

The card has an on board fuse that is not replaceable. It is located on the passenger side fire wall to the left of the blower moter under the glove box. Held in with two silver phillps screws

Car has a skip and not firing properly on all cylinders

Before you go checking parts that aren't there, unplug each coilpack connector one at a time with the engine running. After unplugging a coilpack you should hear the idle drop. If you unplug a connector and there is no change in idle, that is your problem cylinder. You can then check to see if there is spark by removing the coilpack and touching it to a ground on the engine, you'll hear it click. If you have spark, check the spark plug, if the spark plug is good, it's most likely a bad fuel injector. You can verify a bad injector by doing a resistance test after removing the connector. Injector replacement is a nightmare on these cars, but it can be done without pulling the plenum if you're mechanically inclined. Visit for more help.
