Question about 2000 Pontiac Bonneville
Need to replace the driver side and passenger side airbag, also the air bag module. Any clues on how to take apart the dash to get to these items? Thanks, Mark

irst, You must get the steering wheel with controls. I believe part numbers were listed above, but bottom line, make sure you get the right color if you are ordering. The black one is called ebony. Prices vary depending on where you get them. I got mine from a salvage yard brand new for $75. Second, You must replace the clockspring with the column harness. If you have a light duty pickup, you will need part number 26101829. This is for a 2 stage air bag. If you have a heavy duty, order part number 26101828. This is for a single stage air bag. If you are unsure, take off your airbag and look to see if it has 1 or 2 pigtails connected to it. 1 is a single stage, 2 is a 2 stage. GM has reduced the number of part numbers available to simplify things. Therefore, you will get a harness equipped with an additional 8 pin connector. This is for the steering wheel speed sensor for quadrasteer. If you do not have quadrasteer, just tape it to the column and don't worry about it.
Be careful when installing the harness, there are about 14 connectors, I spent 2 hours installing the harness and wheel.

you could replace the one shock but do you know why it is leaking oil? Typically unless there was something traumatic to happen to one of the rear shocks, then if one is going you can almost be the other one will go soon. I ended up having too many problems with the air ride suspensions. If you haven't yet, look into conversion kits as something to consider for down the road if nothing else. www.strutmasters.com has a great kit that is made in America and comes with a lifetime warranty. That is correct, the air blend door actuator. "flapper valve" may need to be replaced or cleaned and free from binding up. Good luck and hope this helps. If there is an Auto Zone in your area, they can order the part you need and give you the step by step instructions to removing the old actuator and replacing it if it's damaged. I had this problem in my pontiac earlier this year. The first dealership tried to tell me that I had caused this by shoving things under my passenger seat (which was not the case). I went to a second dealership where they informed me that gm is aware of this problem and had links sent out to dealerships to help them deal with this problem. At the time GM had 3 engineers working with dealerships to help diagnose problems. They kept my car for 2 days changing out various parts and putting in new codes and finally they got it working correctly. Since this was a GM problem they covered all costs and gave me a rental free of charge for the 2 days. You definitely need to get this fixed because they told me that had I not fixed it and I'd been in an accident, my airbag would not have deployed. Hope this helps!

Your passenger side temperature door actuator is bad. You can access the actuator by removing the glove box & hush panel. The actuator is on the side of the HVAC box. If you can gain access to the actuator watch the center of the actuator as you change the temp on the control head, if the actuator does not move it is bad, if it does, the door inside the HVAC box is bad. Most likely its the actuator. If you remove the actuator & open it up you will most likely find the large center plastic gear is cracked all the way through. It is held in place by 2 or 3 7/32 screws. Once you replace it, disconnect your battery wait 30 seconds and reconnect it to reset the HVAC control head so it can relearn your actuator positions. It can take up to 5 minutes for the control head to go through it's relearn procedure. You can try resetting the actuator first , but make sure your radio is turned off before you disconnect the battery and if your luck, the actuator may not have any broken parts and the gears may just need to be freed up and lubed.
