Go buy a copy of the Haynes car service manual for that year and model and find the answer yourself. It will also tell you alot more about your van.

Oil lights comes on

check oil level in the sump and fill if necessary. If ok check the wire to the oil sender unit is tight and not shorting out on the engine . Replace the sender unit. have the oil pressure tested with a mechanical pressure gauge

OIL WARNING LIGHTon

This means you are risking ruining the engine if you try to drive it that way. Check your oil levels.

The sending unit is not very expensive. Your options are to replace it and see if the new one works or have someone use an external oil pressure gauge and check the pressure through the fitting the oil pressure sender attaches to.

Oil pumps do wear out. Oil pressure is also dependent on the bearing clearance. If the bearings are too sloppy, internally the oil will run out and not pressurize.

Trouble shooting low oil presume 2000 dodge durango

Many times it is just a faulty sender. Some times its low oil if the level has not been checked. Then it could be worn engine bearings and with more clearances there would be lower pressure. I would replace the sender first.

Oil light comes on

Change your oil pressure sender. The oil pressure sender will usually break before the oil pump will. If you are driving with the oil light on and the motor has not seized the oil pump is probably all right. When your oil light comes on you need to turn your car off immediately so you do not damage your engine crankshaft and camshaft bearings. If you change the oil pressure sender and the oil light stays on then you should replace your oil pump before more serious damage happens to the motor.

How do I stop and/or turn off the low oil pressure ''alarm'' bell for a 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan? I DO NOT want to hear the noise from the ''alarm'' ''bell''. How do I disable the alarm bell? thank you

The oil pressure alarm is very important, the last thing you want to do is dasable it, need to check the oil level, if it is full then it would be wise to take it to the shop, probably a malfunctioning oil pressure sender

Oil light came on when idling; oil changed; still happening occasionally. If I put it in park or neutral and rev it - the oil light goes out. Could it be the oil sending/pressure unit? Is there an easy way...

make sure are using a genuine dodge oil filter and correct grade of oil to check further you need to have the oil pressure checked using a master gauge a garage would do this for you if ok replace pressure switch if very low could be pump and bearing wear is the idle speed set too low i would check this

Oilpressure switch location

Left top of your oil filter. It has a electrical connector on it. The 2000 caravan shows the Oil pressure sender next to the filter. The Knock sensor is on the other side of the filter in front of the starter. Good luck and hope this helps.
