BMW 316ti burning engine oil

Hi, Can anyone please tell me what to do with my car? It is eating too much of engine oil. It is running out of engine oil in after running 90 - 100 miles. I have recently got full servicing done. But after a week later the engine oil light started showing on dash board. I had to top up bit of engine oil. It seems every 90 to 100 miles, it runs out engine oil. Engine oil goes below the minimum level. Also the exhaust pipe signal started showing for last two days. Can anyone please advice what to do and which garage would be best to get it checked by? Thanks

U can keep driving, just make sure the oil always shows on the dipstick when u check it, if not then u can cause the engine to just freeze up from lack of lubrication.

That sounds like you bought big problems. Oil ights indicate low oil pressure= BIG BUCKS. I would have a qualified repair shop check it out, A shop that specializes in BMW. If you are lucky, maybe the oil sender is just bad. They can also check out the Ck eng light. But the oil light is priority one.

check your owners manual, your car is not listed in the list of vehicles legal to purchase in my country, so it has no listings even at our auto parts stores

Just brought BMW 316ti noticed a yellow light coming on in centre of dash do I need to worry

Of course you need to worry until you find out what the light means . IT could be a light warning you of a possible serious fault in the engine/ transmission ( engine fault light from no water ,brakes etc ) have it checked out before it can become costly.. Lights are not there as Christmas decorations but to save you money.

Hi hope you can assist. My hubbys Isuzu blew its head gasket which we replaced, however it picks up an extreme rev, even if the truck is switched off, battery removed, the rev does not cut off, it seems...

In diesel engines when the engine starts blowing it means the engine is almost gone so it does when its overheated, your engine is eating mobil oil and will not cut off if its eating oil. your engine is bad now if you want to run it for a few days here is what you do

you should remove the blow overflow pipe from the intake side i.e which goes from the engine blow to the air intake side and hang it to the bottom of the engine it will blow out the blown oil into the air and your engine will cut off easy no problems but remember it will eat oil so keep it top up if bows up more oil put a plastic bottle at some place in the engine compartment and put the other end of the pipe in it when the bottle is filled in a day or two put it back in the engine and top up

or get the engine rebuilt do let me know when it works(eagleeye_12345@yahoo.com)
YES it sure works

I would like to know whre the oil filter is situated on a 2002 316ti BMW?

it's not so much an oil filter as it is an oil filter element in a cannister with a removable top. look for an aluminum looking circular thing with a 10mm 6point bolt head on the top center. That's your oil filter cannister housing. unbolt the bolt......lefty loosey rightey tightey and voila.....there's the oil filter element. It is in the engine compartment, accessable from the top, not the bottom of the car.

The ABS warning light on my BMW 316ti is flashing.

The flash may be a faulty brake light switch located on the rear of the brake pedal
