Question about 2005 Chevrolet Impala
I have an '05 Chevy Impala LS with the 3.8L V6, and I'm hearing this tinny, vibrating type of noise coming from the engine compartment. I mainly hear it during moderate acceleration and during upshifts. It usually only lasts a few seconds each time. Anybody have an idea what this could be?
I've actually had two different occasions (on different GM vehicles) which would produce this type of noise. On a 1990 Buick LeSabre it was loose bolts connecting the flex plate to the torque convertor ( sounds most like your problem). On a 1989 Pontiac Bonneville (actually 2 different ones) it was a bad harmonic balance pulley. The Buick only cost me the time to remove the dust cover from the bottom of the bell housing and tighten the bolts. The Pontiac's cost me $100+ for a new pulley and the time to replace them. Both require a bit of mechanical experience, but I did them and I'm just a simple farmer.
